Guest guest
Congratulations on your husband's transplant! He must feel so much better. I am reaching back a bit here but IF my memory serves me correctly, I believe was tested for the BK virus post transplant. You might want to search the archives for and BK and you may be able to pull up her information. I can't recall what her treatment was. I do pray your husband's doctors get it under control quickly. All the best to you both, In a message dated 8/2/2005 3:59:46 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time, moeomalley@... writes: Hi fellow iga members, My husband recently had a kidney transplant (may 17th). His creatinine has ranged from 1.5 to 2.o following the transplant. Most recently, his numbers have been closer to 2.0. His neph screened him for the BK polyomavirus on July 22 and the results indicated that he was positive for BK both in the urine and the blood. They recommended doing a biopsy to determine if there is an infection. I was wondering a) has any one who is post trans been diagnosed with this, b.) how was it treated, c.) what was the outcome, d.)how long did the treatment take, e. was there any reoccurance, and finally f.)any damage to the kidney. Sorry this post is so specific but my husband is very concerned and the doctors were somewhat blaise in discussing this. The info we found on the internet seems more daunting than what was explained to us.
