This happens to me, now and again, Sally. Its part of the process of

learning to eat healthy. Those old bad habits are hard to break. You

obviously want to move on or you wouldn't have posted, so the motivation is

inside your head, you simply need to tap into it. What was it, one week

ago, that convinced you to change - to control your eating? Can you

remember that feeling? That moment when you realized you must do something?

Keep trying if you can't.

In the mean time, write down everything you eat. Even if it is " bad. "

Write it all down. When you write it down (I know its time consuming, but

do it anyway), think of what mood you were in when you wrote it down.

figure out what it is that is triggering your eating pattern. Its not

hunger, right? Try to eliminate hunger, unless its been 3-4 hours since

your last meal. Isolate the emotion that triggers the behavior. The idea

here is to redirect this emotion/behavior link to something else. Drink

water, read a book, walk around the block, call a friend, but DON'T eat once

you have isolated the emotion that triggers the eating response.

If you need to talk to someone, and if you don't have someone to listen,

email me off this list serve. My email is tms43@.... Sometimes you

just need to talk to someone. Get it in writing and out of your head. I

know about stress, as do many others on this list. I've been through what

is happening to you, so many times. I finally got the book, " Stop Stuffing

Yourself " and what I've said to you is a summary of most of what I've gotten

from that book.

Sally, its ok to have times like this. You can't forget about it, so learn

from it. Use it to get you further on your journey. You can do this, it

takes time, and patience. Especially with yourself.

Are you following WW or are you doing your own or different plan?

My bad week

Good morning. I signed up with this group ten days ago and I have

been reading all the posts, I've posted once and got a lot of

support. I started with WW a week ago and start control my eating

habit, I start walking almost 2 miles a day. But something happened

last Friday upsets me a lot and made me loose my eating control. I

am eating like a pig since Friday. I am trying to let it go, move on

and go back to my WW and walking but I cant. I need some advice to

forget what happened and start again. Thanks for all the support.

Sally

I am sorry that you had something happen that is making you eat

uncontrollably! It's awful when that happens.

The thing is... you have to remember that eating does NOT make the situation

better... eating everything in sight just makes things WORSE because you

are going to get mad at yourself & eat MORE!!

So, my suggestion is to walk out your frustrations... instead of reaching

for something to eat... reach for your walking shoes & get out of the house,

away from the food.

Since you can't control what upset you, perhaps you could focus on what you

CAN control & that is your eating & exercising!

I think I better save this e-mail for myself, because we ALL go through this

from time to time.

I do pray that you will be back on track soon...
