Guest guest
After being on unemployment for 19 months, I have a meeting on Thursday to see if I can qualify for a government program to pay costs for an online Medical Transcription course. I live in extremely rural eastern Oregon with the closest doctor being 90 miles away. I have been unofficially told that the MT field is not a high demand field in my area. I am going to have to prove that there is a good probability that I can become employed as a MT via an online method. What I need is some testimonials from employed MT's on how long it took them to get a job and how it is working out for them to work from home. I am planning on taking the CareerStep program, so if any graduates of that program could write a testimonial, I would appreciate it. I plan on printing out the responses and compiling the information I gather to support my decision to train to become and MT and convince them that it will work out for me. Thanks so much, Lynn
Guest guest
Lynn, I graduated from Career Step in January 2003 and found an at-home position with a national company in less than 10 days. Working from home is great, and I found that I was very well prepared by the course to work independently and to basically hit the ground running. There are quite a few nationals who are willing to test and hire new Career Step grads (and grads of other programs, as well). You might be able to get some helpful info directly from Career Step. In their newsletter they publish names of recent grads who have gotten jobs. It might also be helpful to post an inquiry similar to this one on their student forum, which you can get to through their website. If you have questions or need any further suggestions, e-mail me privately (dkmoore@...) . Best of luck to you, Dana Your input appreciated After being on unemployment for 19 months, I have a meeting on Thursday to see if I can qualify for a government program to pay costs for an online Medical Transcription course. Guest guest
Wow - now see... I thought Career Step was the bomb. I hired three or four girls for the company I work for, and they had graduated from Career Step. I have yet to really hear anything BAD about them. I found them to be the most REASONABLY priced compared to others ($8,000 for CRAP). I say Career Step is the way to go... Guest guest
I am a Career Step grad (Oct 2001). I had an at-home position within a week of graduation. There is no guarantee that this will happen for you (or anyone), but it did in my case. I know it's short, but maybe you can still use it for a testimonial. Guest guest
I, too, am a Career Step grad who had a job with a national within a week of graduation, a national that, I believe, only tested me because I was a Career Step grad (though I am sure they tested grads from a few other select schools, as well). I, too, felt very well prepared for work with a national company. I did a lot of research before I chose CS, and found them to be the best blend of quality and value out there. I was completely satisified with my experience with them. Guest guest
Hi, Lynn, I was offered several jobs about a week before I even took my final examination with CareerStep! Two were with national companies, but I turned them down and accepted a local job (pay was MUCH better). I did have to train in-house for 2 months, but then I went home and have been here ever since (2-1/2 years now). I felt CareerStep did a great job preparing me. Employers seemed to really be interested in testing me and I did great on all the tests. Hope this helps!
