Guest guest Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Last night at around 10pm I took Eva to the ER. They took blood and took x-rays. They looked in her ears and said she has an ear infection and they gave her some meds by IV and we were sent home at about 3am. At 6am came in my room because Eva was crying, well I figured she was hungry so I told him to give her a bottle and tried to go back to sleep I was so tired. She kept crying so I went in her room to get her and bring her in with me. I turned on my light and her lips were blue and so were her hands and feet. I was freaking out!!!! I called my husband at work and he said he would be on his way home. I couldnt wait that long and I called 911 because she was shaking all over and her color was off. I called Dan back at work and my mil and they came here ASAP. My fil watched the boys and we were in the ER again. The nurse that took care of her and the doctor were surpised to see her back. They redid some blood work and took a urine sample and the new doctor looked at her x-ray which I dont think they did last night. He thinks she may have pnemoenia. So they gave her more meds and they are keeping her over night to watch her. My mil is there with her now and Dan is going back soon. I need a shower and a nap since I am running on about 2 hours of sleep. SO that is the update and I will let you know more later. Thanks, Crystal mom to (10), (3), and Eva (17 month old CHARGEr) wife to Dan Quote
Guest guest Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 I am so sorry about what you had to go through. I am sure she will be ok. You were right to bring her into ER and to bring her back. My son is now 16 years old but I still remember the midnight runs to the ER and running on no sleep. I used to have a friend, nurse or husband stay with him at the hospital for a few hours after he was admitted so that I could come back home, nap and wash up. It will get better but I do know how you feel. My thoughts are with you. ck > >Reply-To: CHARGE >To: CHARGE >Subject: We went to the ER >Date: Wed, 04 Oct 2006 18:30:50 -0000 > >Last night at around 10pm I took Eva to the ER. Guest guest Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 I'm so sorry! You did make me laugh though. We were in the hospital after 's heart repair and called my in-laws to see if they could take my older daughter for thanksgiving and the days before (we had many offers from friends but wanted her with family) - she said no because she had to get ready for thanksgiving. They are the only ones who have ever said no when we've asked for help! Oh well! My parents do whatever we need them to do - thank goodness - and we have so many wonderful supportive friends! Good luck. Prayers from Dallas, Texas! Lori Myers Re: We went to the ER She does have pnemonia and she should be coming home tomorrow morning. Guest guest Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Crystal, I hope Eva feels better soon. Just a thought-when Patty was younger her hands, feet and lips went blue often when she was ill with things like the ever fun pneumonia. They said she had really poor circulation and her body needed to focus on getting better. Ask about it. Yea for by the way. Bonnie Quote
Guest guest Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Crystal - I'm so sorry to hear that Eva is sick and your hospital experiences. Do you have a saturation monitor at home so when she is sick, you can check her oxygen levels? Before Ethan had the trach, he was monitored all day long and when he numbers went down, we knew there were problems. Hope she gets better soon. Guest guest Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 We dont have a monitor and I thought it was always strange that we didnt because she is on O2 at night. I think I will talk to the doctor tommorrow about that. Thanks. Crystal and Eva -- In CHARGE , Jody Wolfe wrote: > > Crystal - I'm so sorry to hear that Eva is sick and your hospital experiences. Guest guest Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I highly recommend having a monitor (pulse oximeter). We only put Evan's on now when he is sleeping, or during the day if he is sick. There are plenty of false alarms. But when the alarms are real...I really shudder to think of all the apnea episodes Evan has had, and what might have happened had we not heard an alarm to go in and suction him, or turn him over, or just rub his back. Guest guest Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Crystal, I'm so sorry to hear that! How scary that must have been!
