Hi, I don't post much but when I heard Robinul, I knew I have some imput on

this subject:)

My son is 3 years old and weighs 32 pounds and his dosage is 1.4ml 4x a day,

he used to be on 1.0 ml and 1.2 but since he has grown his doctor has

increased it.

I also was concerned when I got it in an injection vial, but was reassured

by the pharmacist that it was ok to give it via g-tube, an has been on

it since birth and everything has gone ok.

Hi. I have a question regarding Robinul. We just recently started giving Luke

Robinul and the form it comes in is in an injection vial. The pharmacy says

that it can also be given directly through g-tube, but I've never heard of this

and I just wanted a little reassurance. I've looked it up and I can only find

where it is given through IV or injection. Also, I'm wondering if anyone can

give me an idea on dosage. We were told to give .2 ml 3X per day. Luke weighs

approximately 24 pounds. Does this sound about right? I'd really appreciate

any input on this. Thank you.

I think they base the dose on the particular child's needs. Jayden has a hard

time handling his secretions and is still unable to sit up unassisted or

anything else developmentally at 20 months old. He weighs 24 pounds and is on

8.5 ml every 6 hours through his G-tube. Sometimes I can skip a dose and give it

every 12 if he gets too dry. Luke may be on a much lower dose if he is able to

hande his secretions better and can sit up unassisted. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

We use the injectable vials and gave it through

g-tube. I asked the pharmacist when we got it if that

was right and he checked with the childrens hospital

and that is what they said to do.

My Josh has been on Robinul since he was born and the dosage has been crazy. In

the hospital he was given a suspension via G-tube, but it was only good for 5

days so it's not realistic to have it at home. We actually crush the pills and

put them in about 3cc of water and give it via G-tube. Josh weighs about 43

pounds and he gets 0.5ml. 2x a day and it is a good dosage for him. I know it

sounds like a pain to crush the pill, but we just put it into the syringe and

push down on the plunger, it crushes it up a little and then we fill the syringe

with some water and shake. It desolves pretty easily and then I'm assured he

gets most of the medicine instead mixing in another container and then trying to

draw it up. I hope this helps.

Hi ,

My son Evan takes glycopyrrulate (generic for Robinul) via g-tube. He has

always taken me. If you are interested, I can contact our pharmacist for the

particulars, because he compounds it for us.

Hi, we are a Robinol family too.

My daughter weighs 22 pounds and takes Robinol from the injection

vials. Her dose is 0.9 ml 3 times a day. We increase it to 4 times a

day when her secretions are very, very runny.

By the way, our privious insurance (United Healthcare) would not pay

for Robinol since it was classified as an " injection " but not

administered as such. Thankfully, it is not super expensive. Better

yet, our new insurance (Blue Cross) pays.

Take care,

Ethan has been on Robinul since about 18 months old and he is now 4 years. We

have always given it through the g-tube. At first the pharmacist would crush

the tablets and make them into a liquid form so that we could more accurately

figure out the best dose. This was expensive because we would have to get it

filled every 2 weeks (something with the liquid crystalizing). Then, once we

got a handle on the dosage, we switched to the 1 mg tablets and break them into

quarters, which is easy to do. I think the dose depends on your sons weight and

amount of secretions. Ethan is approx. 34 lbs and gets .75 mg tablet in the

a.m. and .5 mg tablet in the p.m. We put the tablet into the syringe and let it

dissolve in 10 cc water. But there are days when he is drier and we don't give

him the afternoon dose. You have to play with it for a while to figure out the

best dose not to make them too dry. Good luck!
