Hi, As I sit and await the 'magical' midnight hour, with appetizers about to be popped in the oven, I wonder about you each and all, and am curious as to what you may be up to?We're just having a quiet (as quiet as you can be with 3 or 4 kids home!) New Year's Eve. We anticipate the 'ball' being dropped in Time's Square, and the televising of It's a Wonderful Life; can never get tired of that flick! Loads of food and sparkling cider to be had. Wish I could have ya all over!I pray you each have a wonderful eve tonight and a New Year brimming with all the joy, love and health you so greatly deserve!love, Kate

I desperately need a trip to the grocery store, so tonight won't be very special. I do have some Heineken's for the "big hour" (they didn't have cider or champagne, just beer, so beer it is!) and we will watch the ball drop and all that there...and I am cooking black-eyed peas for tomorrow.

We are blizzarding here in Minnesota, I got my daughter off to respite between storms so she could enjoy the New year's with other kids. I am planning a nice quiet couple of days. I have surgery on Monday to fix a vein in my leg that is threatening to 'rebleed' an to fix the other varcose veins on that leg. I have a bunch of books on tape to listen to and a few craft projects that I want to work on, so should be a nice relaxing time,

Himself is off work at 6 and hopefully sliding safely home - it's 0 degrees,

and still snowing and blowing. We'll have a nice supper of the

cheese-potato soup I have on the stove right now, some pineapple upsidedown

cake for dessert, and sit around trying to stay warm and hoping he doesn't

get called out to any traffic accidents...

Exciting, huh? ;-)

I don't even have black eyed peas! The roads are so snow-packed that I could go to the grocery store. I don't have the fixins' for menudo or any black eyed peas. My son made a huge pot of Red Chile this afternoon so we'll have some of that left. He made it in his big cast iron dutch oven and cooked it in the fireplace. It smelled so good in this house all afternoon! We have a family tradition to sit by the fireplace on January 1st, drinking hot cocoa and looking through seed catalogs, making plans for the vegetable garden. It's nice on cold, cold snowy days to dream about the garden to come:)I doubt I will be up at midnight but on one of my many potty trips I will look at the clock and say "it's 2011!"hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. I seem to have picked up the cold my nephew (age 1) was sporting during Christmas... Sore and aching throat, ridiculously high fever (even spent a couple of hours one night shivering and shaking from rising fever...) and some headache just to top it off... may be coming down with the same, but so far she has only had a little headache and mild fever. In other words, our New Years Eve was very quiet indeed. We had fondue (it's our traditional New Years dinner). And for starters figs baked with pecorino cheese. Cheese and crackers for dessert. We watched a show on TV, ok over all, a few quite good songs. And we watched some DVDs too. An ok way to spend a New Years Eve when you are not quite well. We weren't sure we'd be up to midnight, but we were (only just though, went outside to watch the fireworks, and wish the neighbors a Happy new year. Then back inside and to bed...) We had bought a bottle of sparking wine, but didn't bother to open it. It would have been a bit of a waste actually... We had a good time though. And I hope the rest of you had too! Best of wishes for the new year for all of you!love/Reb>> Hi, As I sit and await the 'magical' midnight hour, with appetizers about to be > popped in the oven, I wonder about you each and all, and am curious as to what > you may be up to?> We're just having a quiet (as quiet as you can be with 3 or 4 kids home!) Yes, I hear that storms are quite bad out your way. My daughter, Kara, is planning on going for her Masters in Art Therapy next year. One of the schools (can't recall the name) she is considering is out in Minnesota, and I'm not too thrilled with that. We probably won't see much of her.Is the surgery painful? I hope it is a quick, painless healing and that you'll 'be on your feet' in no time!Great to hear from you Kay. Happy New Year!hugs, KateFrom:

We watched a show on TV, ok over all, a few quite good songs. And we watched some DVDs too. An ok way to spend a New Years Eve when you are not quite well. We weren't sure we'd be up to midnight, but we were (only just though, went outside to watch the fireworks, and wish the neighbors a Happy new year. Then back inside and to bed...) We had bought a bottle of sparking wine, but didn't bother to open it. It would have been a bit of a waste actually... We had a good time though. And I hope the rest of you had too! Best of wishes for the new year for all of you!love/Reb>> Hi, As I sit and await the 'magical' midnight hour, with appetizers about to be > popped in the oven, I wonder about you each and all, and am curious as to what > you may be up to?> We're just having a quiet (as quiet as you can be with 3 or 4 kids home!)
