Well, today was the day...I'm done with (1) year of Herceptin. Hubby had

flowers sent to my job, and champagne waiting tonight at dinner. It was

emotional, to say the least, I guess because it puts another " notch " in my

belt,

after double mastectomy(s), chemo, radiation, now Herceptin.

I just hope it works.

Thank you, Marisa. You will do just fine. How's the little guy doing? I

hope you both got to see the tree and sights around Manhattan during the

holidays. I was just downloading some of my NYC pictures, which I will try to

put

in my album.

My best to you,

  • 4 weeks later...

Congradulations ,

I look forward to the day I can join you with my own

celebration. I finish in June. Do you have a

port-a-cat and if so, are you having yours taken out?

That is a question I will need to ask my oncologist

since I have a port-a-cat. It doesn't bother me but I

don't know how long one keeps it after treatment.

Again, hugs to you,

Anita

Dear Anita,

My port was removed about 2 weeks after I finished chemo in October of 2004.

Although it got me through A/C and Taxol, it was very close to my skin

under my shoulder blade and my oncologist and I felt it should be removed so I

didn't have any problems.

Some people keep them in a year after chemo...not unusual.

June will fly by, you'll see...I can't believe 52 weeks did. The most

important thing? I got through it and so will you, honey.
