Guest guest
I saw my oncologist yesterday about my back pain. Had seen my GP and he said was UTI, gave me shot of Rocephin and something for pain. After another day of pain decided couldn't tolerate any more so made my appointment. Oncologist did pelvic x-ray to make sure not beginning of bony metastasis. Also did blood work which showed my white count had almost doubled since November, from 26,000 to 50,000. He was afraid this was due to bony metastasis. He called me last night and said my x-ray was normal, no evidence of metastasis at least to this area. He had done a smear on my blood checking also for nucleated red blood cells which would also indicate bony metastasis. My smear however showed eosinophils which he says indicates a severe allergic reaction to something that I had taken in the last month, so now he is checking all my medications for interactions. Has anyone else ever had this? When I think of elevated white blood cells I always think of infection or leukemia. Please let me hear from you if you have experienced anything like this. Thank you for your help. Diane
