Since tomorrow is the start of a new year, and I have another (my

last) round of chemo on the 8th I have decided that the next week is

my " vacation " from BC.

When I found out I had BC I decided that there were 3 things that

I want to acomplish before I die, and one of them is to show a horse

in a riding class. Trust me when I say that this is not easy.

Especially since I was thrown from a horse several years ago and

literally broke my neck and am now very afraid to ride. I know that

this will take a long time, but I really want to do it.

My adult daughter rides and shows Quarter Horses and there is a

series of 2 shows over the next week, Pre-Denver and National Western

Stockshow so she will be showing her horse for the next 7 days.

Starting on Tuesday I am going to show her horse in Halter. It is

a " class " where you do not have to ride and the judge is actually

assessing the horse not the handler so I don't need to have a great

deal of skill. I am very excited to try this, and while it is not the

riding class of my goal it is a start. I have never actually shown a

horse in anything before and because of the Chemo and some rotten

weather I have had virtually no practise so I am going to use the 4-H

method and learn by doing. WISH ME LUCK.

Another thing happening at National Western is that my son will

be showing a steer in the cattle classes. Last year he did what they

call Catch-a-Calf at the rodeo and he caught a calf so he was given a

steer and the culmination of the program is showing the steer and

competing with all of the other kids that caught calves last year.

That takes place on Saturday the 6th so wish him luck as well.

My vacation from BC is at home but the joy, anticipation,

excitement and fun is as good as a trip to Mexico. Believe me with

all the snow we have had in the last 2 weeks a place in the sun would

be wonderful--but this little " trip " to the National Western is

Pshchologically as good.

Just needed to talk about something fun instead of all we are

dealing with. Thanks for being here and giving me a place where I can

talk about what ever I need to.

, I love this positive vibe. I am wondering what the other 2

things you want to do are?

My sister wanted a book for Christmas called " 1000 Places to See

Before You Die " . I was overwhelmed by that idea! But 3 things to

do sounds like a great goal, I'm going to give it thought.
