Guest guest
With all the talk of HEMS and whether or not the ground crews are utilizing them appropriately, does any one have best practices for the use of HEMS and what patients benefit from HEMS and which do not. Study after study shows that all patient that are transport by air medical do not benefit from its service. But educating the crews on what is proper utilization should be our goal. The fewer flights the lower the risk.(it least that is the way i see it.) I over see the clinical aspect of two 911 county with a minnium of 45 minute transport to any level 1 or 2 Trauma center and would like to ensure that HEMS is being use appropriate. Currently we do chart and utilization reviews with both air medical operation. But educating the field crews seem to be the best way for me to go. Any help or information would greatly be appreciated.
