Hi , Welcome back. You will get back to normal readings. Don't worry about the past, you can't change that. We all make mistakes. That doesn't mean we fail, it just proves that none of us are perfect. I know high numbers can be scary but don't let them stress you. That will only lead to higher numbers. Just take one day or one meal at a time. Find time everyday to do something that you enjoy. We all need " me " time everyday. You can do this. hugs Eunice Quote
Guest guest Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 has anyone else had their dr refer to them as an " aging diabetic " ? Meaning that after a certain amount of yrs you and what works has changed? When I first heard it I just about died and then giving it thought I realized that it really did apply to me. Quote
Guest guest Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Hello everyone, I have not visited this group in a long time. I was diagnosed with type 2 a little over 3 years ago and at first I grabbed a hold and worked very hard to get the monster under control. Then I had some setbacks. But overall I have kept decent control up until just a few months ago! My new doctor prescribed Niaspan for my high triglycerids and it immediately shot my BG numbers up 80 - 100 points. I have never seen numbers like this since I was first diagosed. Well eventually I quit taking it... But at the same time I felt discouraged and very down and stopped testing and ate what I wanted. Well, I got scared about what would happen to me if I didn't start taking care of myself so I'm back on track. But oh my gosh, is it hard to get those numbers down again. We're trying new insulin, I'm right on top of every piece of food I put in my mouth, counting carbs, exercising and the numbers won't budge. I'm really scared but I know I have to keep working at it. So I'm checking back here because I know what great support I've received in the past and I hope to be able to give some support back now that I've got a few years under my belt with this disease. Thanks for listening! D. (in Milwaukee) Quote

Oral meds worked once, but they don't any longer (and I've developed allergies to some of them). Mike Quote
