I'm new to the group and newly diagnosed Hello, My name is Jami. I am 38 years old and was Dx with Right breast cancer one month ago today. I have already had a lumpectomy and lymph node removal, and other than my right arm being tender and tingling I feel as though I am in good spirits. I start Chemo December 26th.... which I was thankful for being that I have a 16 year old son and 3 year old daughter at home, and would like to enjoy Christmas with them. I am trying my best to keep everything as normal as can be, although it's difficult with the surgeries, tests, and MD appointments. Anyway, just a little bit about me I look forward to being in the group and getting to know you guys and alsofinding out all I can about this diagnosis. Guest guest Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 Hi Jami and welcome! Feel free to ask questions of us all. You'll find some very helpful women here - at all different levels of treatment process. Do you know what type of chemo you'll be getting? So happy that you are able to wait until after the holidays to begin. Looking forward to talking with you. Hugs! Ellen > > Hello, > My name is Jami. Guest guest Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 Hello Ellen, I am supposed to be getting the " TAC " treatment. Taxotere, Adriamycin, and Cytoxan. One time every 3 weeks for 4 treatments. Then 6 weeks of Radiation. Found out this week that they may follow up with more Chemo but I'm not for sure. Where are you in all of this? Am I supposed to just e-mail you back like I am or do I have to post everything on the group? I haven't done anything like this before. I am looking forward to talking with you also. Guest guest Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Hi again Jami, I'm at the " end " of my treatment process (sounds funny to say - are we EVER at the end??) Anyway, I had surgery (lumpectomy) in April 2006, Chemo in May & June - 4 doses A/C - dose dense - 2 weeks apart and then radiation in July & August. I did have a Neulasta shot after each treatment because I was taking the chemo 2 weeks apart. Now, I'm taking Arimidex (an aromatase inhibitor) for the next 5 years. This drug has some side effects, but I'm plugging away on it for now - hoping they will get better. The way the group works is you can either post e-mails through your e-mail account and get all the posts back that way too, or you can set it up where you go to the group to read and post. I get so much e-mail and don't want to miss anything important from the group so I choose to set it up where the posts do not go directly to my e- mail account - I just come here and read and respond - that's just easier for me. That's quite an age spread between your children 16 year old boy and 3 year old girl. I'll bet they are the best of friends though! I have three boys 15, 13, and 12 and one daughter who is 17. Most days, they are farrrrrrrrr from friends - LOL - but I have hopes for them that someday they'll at least like each other. Take good care and have a good day. Guest guest Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Hey, Ellen, my kids fought like cats and dogs, girl first then 3.5 years later a boy. They are now 34 and 30 and are best of friends, would do whatever for each other. Sure they still have their arguments but they are family.... it will get better. Barb Michigan Re: Hey everyone. Guest guest Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Hey Ellen, Yes I did space my children out.....way out! My daughter is our miracle baby My husband had a vasectomy 6 years prior to me getting pregnant! She was definitely meant to be. She keeps me going. My son and her have a very good relationship. He is so good with her. I remember when we told him that I was going to have a baby, he said " I always wanted a little sister. " Funny. I never knew that! As for me and my siblings, we fought like cats and dogs when we were younger. I'm 38, my sister is 33 and my brother is 29. We are actually pretty close, and in all reality have always been. We do have our moments, but they pass!! So yes there is hope for yours. I feel like I'm going all the time with a toddler and a teenager. I can only imagine what it must be like with four so close together!! Are they a big help to you? Jami From: Ellen Date: 12/14/2006 7:01:45 AM To: breastcancer2 Subject: Re: Hey everyone. Guest guest Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Let me jump right in here...I have 3 children 1 boy and 2 girls. spaced 5 and 3 years apart. I didn't ever think I would get them raised with all the fussing and bickering..I have 45 gray hairs caused by their raising...But now that they are grown it just seems like yesterday they were my babies and I had hair all the same color...I am so very proud of my grays, it show I accomplished something in my life. No matter how old or how grown they think they are,,,when they suffer you suffer...so I don't think you ever really get them raised, cause then comes the grands...Oh, no more grays... Guest guest Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Hi everyone and all those newly diagnosed as well as those who are ongoing with their treatment etc . Just thought id update you all , I post now and then but I do read all your posts ,and a big hi from the UK. I was diagnosed with DCIS 3years ago , wide local excision plus 10 lymph nodes removed , my tumour wasn't large but feelable , anyway clear margins with no node involvement , my tumour wasn't hormone receptive and I received radiotherpy for 3 weeks ,no chemo ,with a really good prognosis or as good as it gets . So you can imagine my devastation in august of this year when I was diagnosed with mets to almost my entire right lobe of my liver .her2+ (no evidence of it being anywhere else at this moment in time )Anyway got to my onc very quick and she had said I had a very poor prognosis and didn't know wether it was to late to begin any sort of treatment ,to cut a long story short ,I was put on EC chemo and have my last one next week . I have responded so well to chemo ,(more than my onc dared hope for ) my tumours markers are down from a thousand to 100,with still 2 more blood results to come in ,my liver function is now normal and im feeling much more like myself . Her plan of action now is ,seeing as ive responded so well to chemo ,shes gonna do a scan in Jan after my last chemo ,then monitor me very closely and see how I go , with a view to starting me on herceptin and another chemo when things begin to change again. I have no problem with her course of action and have a lot of faith in her .She is extremely pleased with the results of the past few months treatment and my response to it . I myself am pleased and didn't expect such a good result ,but of course worry about how pleased I should be ,I don't want to give myself false hope as I know this isnt going to be a cure ,but want so much to be pleased as this has given me more time than was initially thought , my onc says shes confident ill stay in some sort of remission for quite a few months maybe even years (well a year or so )before more treatment is ncessary but she will keep a very close eye on things along the way , I seem to have won the first battle but I know there ll be many more ahead of me . I try to stay positive throughout , but at times I find it so difficult wondering if im being to pleased about my results (sounds silly I know as I know how good these results are for me ) I think its just the roller coaster of emotions we go through ,some days im so pleased then other im thinking maybe I shouldn't let myself be so pleased , so I get myself very mixed up ,but I suppose that's normal , I get myslef in such a turmoil as to how I should take results like this cos as sonn as I feel uplifted I then get a nurse or someone telling me not to get my hopes built up to much ,I mean I do understand and have accepted that this cannot cure it ,but buy me more time , ,so surely I am right to feel pleased that my response has been so positive without going overboard . Anyway thanks for listening and hope everyone is doinf as well as they can be. Love Sharon from UK Quote

I will keep you in my prayers. > Hugs > nne > Breast Cancer Patients Soul Mates for Life > http://www.geocities.com/chucky5741/breastcancerpatients.html > BreastCancerStories.com > http://www.breastcancerstories.com/content/view/433/161/ > Angel Feather Loomer > www.angelfeatherloomer.blogspot.com > Check out my other ornaments at > www.geocities.com/chucky5741/bcornament.html > Lots of info and gifts at: > www.cancerclub.com > Re: Hey everyone. Guest guest Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Hi Sharon, Thank God you've the grace to stay so positive and it is the right attitude to take! Take good care and eat well. I'll keep you in my prayers. Lol & God bless, Aurelia (Singapore) Re: Hey everyone. I'm new to the group and newly diagnosed Hi everyone and all those newly diagnosed as well as those who are ongoing with their treatment etc .

Guest guest Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 I dont know if you read my introduction. but I think you and I have alot in common. If possible could you write to me directly at cslorak@..., so we could talk more directly Thanks Sunny jami wright thewrightway@...> wrote: Hey Ellen, Yes I did space my children out.....way out! I'm new to the group and newly diagnosed Hi again Jami, I'm at the " end " of my treatment process (sounds funny to say - are we EVER at the end??) Anyway, I had surgery (lumpectomy) in April 2006, Chemo in May & June - 4 doses A/C - dose dense - 2 weeks apart and then radiation in July & August.
