Guest guest Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 Today i kept my cool. I had to do laundry. Six loads and only one dryer was available because someone forgot to empty their laundry from the dryers. I didnt let myself get too angry. (a little annoyed but im sure anyone would be annoyed if that happend to them). I got all my chores done today. I set my goals for today and I did them. I finished up my laundry and gave kitty her grooming and washed her litter box (gets washed out once a week so the box dosnt stink) I went out to Mandarin (a chinese restaruant) by myself. Took me two years of living near the restaruant but i finaly went. This in itself was an accomplishment. Its a crowded popular and very noisy and not well lit place. I did not panic, I did not get upset. I did not know where the lineup was so i calmly asked. I rememberd to always be polite even though i was feeling kinda scared and unsure. I waited for the bus and felt calm even though it was starting to get dark. (i knew this before i went to the restaraunt that it would be getting dark when i got home, but I told myself I would be ok with this. I stayed calm and wasnt panicky to get home before it got too late. I thought about weather I should wait to see if I can catch the connecting bus that goes by my home or take the taxi. I decided it made more sence to take 5 dollars and take the taxi cause i remembered its Sunday, and not the weekday evning schedual. I went to a conveinience store and guess what i found I finaly found my honey with the honey comb in it!!!! YAY! I dont think i could have asked for a better ending of my day (well then i got home and my kitty was cuddly as ever All in all, it was a good day and i needed to share -- My spelling's kinda wobbly. It's good spelling but the letters wobble and end up in the wrong places. - Winnie the Pooh Quote

Guest guest Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 Chantelle, We all need (REALLY NEED) these good days. I remember, many years ago when Andy and I had just married and were living in Cambridge, MA, how much nerve it took me to go out to eat by myself. I was in a new place, etc. A year or so later, we moved to Paris, and the same fears implied in your post were things I felt acutely. This isn't just a CHARGE thing. I think it's human --- and often unpleasant. Just know you're not alone. I'm very proud of you. Martha Quote

Guest guest Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 Chantelle, That wasn't just a good day. It was wonderful. I don't know what part of it is the best. You did it. Know why? Because you can. Now you must remember to take it easy. You were right in setting a daily goal and then working specifically on that and nothing else. Set realistic and short term goals that are accomplishable. I understand anxiety so I understand the enormity of it all. And yet you conquered it many times. And you didn't get irritated. I couldn't be more proud of you. I'm so happy for you. Bonnie, Mom to Kris 23, Patty CHARGE 21 and wife to Quote
