Always looking for ideas... Hi Molly, I very seldom sit down from the time I have breakfast until I eat dinner around 8:00. I'll stop for a few minutes to check emails, but most of the time I'm on the go. LOL I don't make our bed or do any housework until after breakfast. After lunch, I'm doing more house work, yard work, shopping or walking. I have dinner around 8:00 and sometimes after dinner, I'll go for a short walk. This may not be what you were looking for, but it works for me. I've been off meds since Feb 2001. My BP is normal and my weight has been at my goal for about the same amount of time. hugs Eunice
Guest guest
So what does everybody here like to do for exercise/physical activity? Diet is a huge part of diabetes management but I find that exercise helps me a lot too. (I admit that I also like that after a good workout I can eat more carbs and not have it spike me quite as bad.) Before a couple of weeks ago, my exercise program could best be described as " Sit on the couch and watch TV and think about getting up to go to the fridge for a snack " but I finally found some motivation and joined a gym. I've been working out on the cardio machines about 4-5x per week (mostly treadmill, recumbent bike, and elliptical) and have started weight training also. Today I leg pressed 50 lb - not bad for a recovering couch potato! I am still getting over my fear of being laughed at by the other gym people, but since I usually go on weekday mornings, there is a fair share of older people there, and everybody is really nice anyway. Since starting my exercise program, my FBG has dropped from 135 to 125, I am sleeping better, and my mood has improved VASTLY. I am sure my husband and kids have noticed. :-) I just hope I can keep up with it... my track record with sticking with exercise programs is not too good. I am hoping that the good feeling and better fitness I'm getting will be enough to keep me motivated. Anyway what do you all do for fitness? Always looking for ideas... Guest guest
I walk, and have recently taken up Bellydance. My daughter does it (she is 6 and a half) and she LOVES it. It looks easy, but it ISNT! AMAZING toning of the muscles. I have started with video (though one of my best friends is a teacher, she lives too far for me to make two trips a week). When I move closer, I will be taking her classes. Its FUN FUN FUN! and makes your body work in ways that you wouldnt imagine! Every muscle in the body works!!! there are some great bellydance video's out there... check at you library!!! Angelia in OR who also chases after chickens, horses, dogs and children all day! ----- Original Message ----- From: " Molly Jachowitz " > So what does everybody here like to do for exercise/physical activity? > Anyway what do you all do for fitness?
