I know some of the folks on here know Babe. I just got word this

morning, Monday Nov. 20th, that she had died Saturday night at home.

Her funeral is at 11am this morning. I know she was an inspiration to

this " old " medic and made an impact on many others in her long life of

giving. I think she still had her patch and she was 91. Her obit is in

the Waco Tribune Herald website. Thanks, DH

Texas EMS just lost one of the greatest medics that it could possibily have. I

do agree that she was an inspiration to everyone. She was always happy to see

you and always had a smile on her face.

Babe, you will be missed.

Thanks,

My heart goes out to her family. She was an inspiration to all.

May I live as long and be at least half the medic she was.

I had the honor of meeting " Babe " Aycock once in my career. She was an

inspiration to us all, and she will be sorely missed.

All my prayers and deepest condolences to all who knew this great lady.

Rest easy, Babe. We will meet again.

I saw Babe at conference about 4 yrs ago. She was honored at the luncheon. I

was a brand new medic at that time but older than most. She gave me the

inspiration to go on and become a paramedic. Proving age is just a state of

mind and it's never to late to do anything you have a passion for. Babe gained

my respect that day. She will be missed but not forgotten. My heart goes out

to all that knew and loved her.

Sincerely,

I only met Babe a couple of times, but she was an icon to me. Having

started my career in EMS in a volunteer system, and knowing the sacrifices that

volunteers suffer, I always had a lot of respect for her.

Now, I'm an old fart at 68 and still kicking in EMS. When I feel tired,

wonder whether or not I can get up and do it one more time, I think about Babe.

She did it for 23 years longer than I have been alive, and she did it with

competency, grace, and dedication.

I hope we don't forget her. I intend to tell all my students about her and

what she did for EMS, and I urge all y'all to do the same.

They don't get no better than Babe.

I just wanted add my 2 cents.

I have known Babe for almost 20 years. I met her while she was a

paramedic student back in the 80's in Waco. She rode out with me several

times and I count being her paramedic preceptor as a high point in my

career. In her 70's she was known as " Code 3 Babe " . She had more energy

than I did in my 20's. I have been fortunate to have many high points in

my career, but that I was a preceptor for Babe Adcock, is way up there.

I never saw her after that that I did not get a big hug. I taught

several classes for Mart EMS and was always overwhelmed by the

enthusiasm of Babe and her comrades. Our payment was secondary to the

huge meal they prepared for all of us. It was just like dinner on the

grounds after many a Sunday service.

I am sure many can tell similar accounts, but she truly was an

inspiration to me.
