Guest guest Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Maxine, Our protocol that we use in on County was steered by the County Attorney (as at the time only the Constables were carrying them). Our protocol is that we are called anytime a taser has been deployed and we transport without removing them to the local hospital. They are taped in place. Our department has not had any negative outcomes from taser deployments (ie, deaths), however, that is what pushed this current protocol. My hope is that as more LE agencies start utilizing them, the required trip by EMS to the hospital will be an option, not mandatory. I have never had a problem with a patient that has the taser attatched to them. It is a great attitude adjuster, especially when the officer is holding the trigger in his hand for another round!!! Guest guest Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 The TTPOA Swat Medic course teaches that you only need to transport them if they are under the influence of substances which can cause excitement delirium or the are in certain areas such as scrotum, face, neck or hands.
