I use to watch the show when I was little and now my kids are watching him.

Yes it's a sad day in adultville too. I loved that guy!

My husband called to tell me about this. I'm so sad about it. I remember

having two Mr. record albums when my older two kids (18 and 15) were

little, and they loved to listen to them over and over again. Now I'm sort

of " starting over " with having a 2-1/2-year-old as well, and while we don't

have the record albums anymore (or anything to even play them on), she does

run to the TV when she hears Mr. start singing, " It's a beautiful day

in the neighborhood... "

He sure devoted his life to children and the world was definitely made

better by his contribution to it.

> Mr. passed away this morning from stomach cancer. My kids have

always enjoyed watching his shows and I certainly hope they will continue to

air them as they have since he retired two years ago.

Remember that kids show where you had to send in for $1 and get that plastic

thing that you stuck to the TV screen and you got this magic crayon and they

would put a line up on the screen and you would trace that line and

eventually it would be a picture of something?

I don't remember the name of it but I can remember getting in trouble for

drawing on our tiny little TV screen with crayon because I didn't have one of

those plastic things.

That must be it! They took him off the air because kids were getting too

close to the TV screen. Also probably cause kids were pulling the TV off on

them!

Oh yeah I loved that show too. We were too poor for puppets. I had to use

socks.

I just bought my twins " The Best Of Schoolhouse Rock " . I learned about

conjunctions from that. Maybe I should watch it and learn about commas again.

LOL!

I had a Banana Splits lunch box. Remember that one? It was the Banana Splits

hour and they had Danger Island and a few other cartoons. I had to run home

from school for that one.

We didn't have Mr. when I was a kid, but we had Captain Kangaroo and Mr.

Green Jeans. Anyone remember them?!

Oh and the Romper Room! One always wanted to be a " do-bee! "

Rennie, I watched Captain Kangaroo and remember it well. I believe I remember

Romper Room, but only vaguely. However, I was very sick when I was in the first

grade and we had a bell from Romper Room. I can remember that when I needed mom

I could just ring the bell and she would come. I don't remember the show as

well as I remember the bell sitting next to my bed. Margaret

I remember Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Green Jeans. I really don't remember Mr.

from when I was a kid. Does that make me old? LOL!

I love to watch the old reruns of the Mickey Mouse Club on the Disney

Channel late at night. The new Wild Kingdom just isn't the same as the old

one.

Sheesh. I haven't thought about those shows in years. Then, of course, you

remember Romper Room, and what was the one with the clown? I can picture him,

but my memory is failing me (must be the old age coming through).
