Guest guest
Hi all, I posted a note to the HSPList this morning about a funny experience I had and several said I should blush over here, too, so here it is! Have a laugh on me! best, Kathi Well, I'm still blushing.......... I had an appointment the other day to meet with Ellen, the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Spinal Cord Association. I had made a call there last month to try to get some referrals/resources of potential programs for our TeamWalk Weekend and it was Ellen who got us hooked up with the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission as our Friday special guest (he's quadraplegic and has had quite an impressive career). I'm really excited about that! I wanted to learn more about what that group does and their support groups (our diseases are spinal cord diseases), so that's why I made the appointment to meet with her. I also figured we might be able to help each other in various ways. Anyhow, the agency has an office in a Rehab Center. It's a 40 minute drive from me, so of course I had to use the bathroom as soon as I got there. I went up to the Info Desk and asked where the Ladies Room is and the person said, " first door on the left down the hall " . So, in a hurry, I went over there and went in the first door. The first thing I saw were a couple of sinks and 3 urinals (for men) and then a large handicapped size stall. I figured it must be a " unisex " bathroom and hurried into the stall.................. And as I'm sitting there, I'm thinking, gee, it might be awkward for a man to use the urinal and a woman to come in..... Then, I'm wondering....... uh oh..... And sure enough, someone with men's shoes enters the room and begins to do business at the urinal. I quickly picked up my pocketbook on the floor so it couldn't be seen. So I just waited until he finished and left and then ran out as quick as I could before somebody else came in. I looked at the sign on the middle of the door and it was a big " Restroom " sign. There was a tiny " mens " sign on the wall on the side. There was another Restroom next to it, with a tiny " womans " sign on the wall next to it. Yikes. Anyway, I had a lovely meeting with Ellen and I'm going to do a little volunteer work there for them and might even go to a support group meeting. They are doing a golf tournament next week. too funny, Kathi
