Hi Ronnie, Yep, you are right. I had that in my notes but in putting together such a vast amount of details, overlooked it. Sorry Joe! Joe was the " first " to organize a PLS Casual Connection. Dolores was the " first " to organize more of a Conference event. There are others who helped in our early years, but I'm trying to record the " firsts " for each type of thing that contributed to our community building. Although the email groups (PLS Friends and HSP List) were the first things to connect people and give birth to our communities, those wouldn't have happened without the websites that were created, so I look at the websites that and Cheryl created as the very first " firsts " . There is a briefer highlight of the key " firsts " at the About our History webpage with photos of those important pioneers here: http://sp-foundation.org/about.htm Thanks, Ronnie, you are a champion for sure, too. best, Kathi
Guest guest
It is still not quite right-- Cecere had already done the preliminary planning for the first conference type gathering before I met him. So, I joined him as his co-chairman and we did the rest of the planning together for the October 2000 Connecticut Connection. Up to the time I met , quite by accident (I prefer to think of it as divine intervention), I didn't know anyone else with PLS. During the summer of 2001, when I was recuperating from my radiation treatments, along with TV coverage I sent hundreds of letters to CT, MA, NY, and RI neurologists, physical therapists and newspapers announcing my intention to form a support group. With 's permission, I called my group " CT Connection " . We were officially registered on September 10, 2001.
