The Spastic Paraplegia Foundation is very proud to

announce that the following three distinguished

scientists have joined its Scientific Advisory Board:

is Brice, MD., Institut National de la Santé et de

la Recherche Médicale U289 and Département de

Génétique, Cytogénétique et Embryologie, Hôpital de la

Salpêtrière, AP-HP, 75651 Paris, France,

Afif Hentati, M.D., Department of Neurology,

Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, IL,

and

Shoji Tsuji, MD, Department of Neurology, Tokyo

University, Tokyo, Japan.

They join the existing distinguished members from last

year:

Chairperson: Martha A. Nance, MD, Park Nicollet

Clinic, St. Louis Park, MN.

Kay Floeter, MD, PhD, Chief, EMG Section,

National Institute for Neurological Disorders and

Stroke (NINDS), National Institutes of Health (NIH),

Bethesda, MD, and

Mark Gudessblatt, MD, South Shore Neurological

Associates, Long Island, NY, and

The SAB reviews all of the research grant proposals

received by the SPF for scientific merit. It then

ranks them using the same ranking system used by the

US National Institutes of Health (NIH). The SPF then

funds the top ranked proposals. In this way the SPF

ensures that the donations that it has received are

spent wisely--on only the very best science.
