Guest guest Posted September 12, 2004 Report Share Posted September 12, 2004 Thank you Laurie, I have been looking at a strict ABA school for Mic for sometime now.Mic is also tactile defensive and SID hes downsyndrome but is very social on his own terms.I have him in pre-school that is 1/2 mile from my house but he cannot join in with the classroom actvities he claps and smiles but stands back he goes into school and has to hug every single person he sees then he stands back.His dad is the only one he seems to be learning from.He has serious self stim behaviors he dangles everything he can,he doesnt line up his toys he has just begun to play with his musical toys and puts them all in a pile.Hes extremely orderly.Mic is lovable and its on his terms only you cant come to him he likes the people that ignore him.He signs all done and and more he responds to the mad sign with a pout face.I have been away fom him for 2 months and his Dad is doing amazing things with him.He does not eat either he has lived on pediasure for 2 years had nissen surgery and still cant handle texture. He has a mic key button for feeding due to more up coming surgeries and we use it for meds only.But his dad is getting some pudding and graham crackers in him.Mics developemental Ped tells me if there wasnt autism he would be high function downsyndrome so I am definately looking at ABA/VB I just dont want it to take the happy little guy we have away fom us.Thank you for your letter it really has relieved some worry.My hats off toyou for home schooling Mic is an only hild so he really needs the socialization of school.I am hoping to get him in the ABA school next summer if they accept him.Its all autism no ds/asd.His apraxia is really showing up now hes trying to talk he needs firm one to one.Thank you so much for your letter.Certainly gave me alot more hope.If I can get the next 2 surgeries over by next summer I will definately beg to ge in that school.I had only 3 choices for leaving my family in NY for my mom which were Nursing home hospice home or me so here I am away from my family.Im going to push to get us to NY the doc said she couldnt make the trip to give her 4 more weeks to recover from fractured bones.You have really given my spirits a lift thanks again Laurie Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
