Thanks for the update. I've been wondering about your situation daily.

I admire you for keeping a cool and clear head. That's what it takes

to line up this very appropriate defense. And you're wise to set up

other sources of income. I hope you win and there is no retaliation.

If they bully through and you do not win what you want (as happened

in my case), at least you will have the satisfaction of

professionally doing everything possible to bring justice to the

situation.

Imagine just for a moment if they had thrown a gag order on you,

barring you from talking to students and staff. Then while you were

gagged they whispered through the staff and students about

incompetencies. That was my situation.

Take those given comments and treasure them. No matter what happens.

Keep that cool and clear head. Make them look you straight in the

eye as you smile.

Know that mentally I'm there fighting with you

Sounds to me that you are doing all the right things Lavon, you sound like a

great inspiration to your students, and that should be all you need. Keep

fighting for what you want.

Great job, Sandy

Update on job

For those of you interested in my employment soap opera... I have not

received any replies from work but here is what I've done to date...

Over the July 4th weekend I typed out a 5 page EEOC complaint and went to

EEO on the 5th and submitted it. The receiving person said they would

pursue the issue and it is now submitted to the college for mediation. I

called several faculty members and got several to commit to speak to the

issues- 2 will report that the chairperson lied about what they had

contacted her for and the frequency, 2 observed my teaching during the

second half of the semester and will state that my lecturing was ok, and

one will tell how a staff person came to her very upset because the

chairperson was talking negatively about me to the staff. I then called

several students and asked them first if the quality of my voice was such

to be a distraction to them or if it was not fully audible and

intelligible. All stated that the voice, though impaired, was still good

enough to teach and all assured me they did not think it was marginal at

all. I then went on to explain what had happened and solicit their

support. 4 of the 5 each spent a long time telling me how much they

appreciated my lectures and support. All 5 committed to writing letters to

the college president with copies to the department chair and to retain a

copy for the EEOC if needed. All 5 also committed to contacting other

students they felt would be supportive to write too. The students

represented each class I taught and each study group I conducted in the

second half of the spring semester of this year. Last week I sent the list

of faculty and my comments to the college President- I did not mention the

students. Meanwhile, I got an e-mail last Thursday asking if I would be

interested in co authoring a textbook for LVN's and possibly taking over

revising another. I think I will commit to both and hopefully get a new

income source going. I figure they'll win at school eventually but at

least they'll know they were in a fight! More as things continue to

unfold... Lavon
