Guest guest
I tried to go that route for my son, but was denied once we applied. Our household income exceed well above the set guidelines for SSI in the state of Colorado. If I remember correctly, a household of 5 can not exceed $38,000 combined income. So, here in Colorado you would have to be below the poverty line to qualify. Heck at that point you would qualify for Medicaid anyway... However, most states have a Medicaid Waver program, which income is not consided. The only problem is there might be a very long waitlist. It seems like I have been put on a waitlist for the WAITLIST, just get info on the program. TOO much red tape for me to deal with at this time!!! Guest guest
WE just applied and got SSI for Jordan, unfortunate thing, is NO ONE ACCEPTS IT. I understand they only pay the clinician something like $22 an hour. I can understand why nobody would take it! Children's Hospital and St. here in Philadelphia will accept it, but they're an hour ride each way, (during non traffic times) and can only accomodate him once every two weeks. (ugh.....) no guarantee it will be the same SLP, either. We're just paying out of pocket <again> until we can hopefully get the district to continue to pick this up. I'm not sure about where you are, but around here, the providers just want no parts of it. ~k blkyanni wrote: Our son is 4 and has a clear dx of apraxia.
