Guest guest
Well, Kai had the first of the third set of casts put on today. Dr Mosca is trying something a bit different this time since the ankle/heel are still in full correction and he waso only working on the cavus. H applied a short (knee) cast - same as he did with the baby he casted right before Kai who had congenital cavus, but not clubfoot. They reinforced the bottom of the cast very heavily so that he wont wear it thru walking on it, but also noted that the soft fiberglass they used gives a bit more so it is more durable than plaster or hard fiberglass for walking on. I also talked to last night - who said Dr ponseti has discussed Kai and the problems he has had with the Markell shoes with him - and he will be making a pair of shoes for Kai. We are hoping that this will resolve the plantaris/cavus. Kai's feet seem to correct easily, but go " bad " just as easy. I really pray our path is not leading to surgery as everyone admits that they do not know what all is involved in Kai's foot. Anyway, Kai is grumpy, but will at least be able to walk, so we should have a pretty peaceful two weeks until the next cast! Angel
