Strange that her doctor would mention a life span ... we've always read that more than likely, we'll die of something else other than PLS. He/She must be one who has never heard of PLS! You can search the net for AAC or Augmentative Alternative Communication and get an idea of what's available. Also, Medicare assumes the cost of a good portion of this equipment. Some others on the list will probably respond and give you more information about what they use. I don't have voice involvement with my kind of PLS, so I can't speak from experience.
