We did some at home but the reinforcement in all settings is really important. Funny you should mention that. We are in that situation exactly. Neal is not the only 5 year old in his class, but his reading skills are ahead of the other ones, plus there are two 3 year olds and a 4 year old in the class, so how can the teacher be expected to really focus on Neal's academic needs? She tries and does help him, but we are starting with individual therapy every other week with a TOD soon. I think it will help him to have this individual time to work on what he needs academically, while at the same time working on the language of it all.
