If you child's hearing aids has a M/MT/T switch (mic, mic-telecoil, telecoil) switch on it and the child usually uses it in the MT position, as mine did, switch it to the M position while in the car. The Telecoil picks up electromagnetic engine noise (as well as noise from nearby computers). If my son forgets to change his, he quickly remembers as soon as I start the car. This is also true when near a tv!
