Guest guest
Vaughn, When we were in Niagara Falls two years ago with my sons on a weekend, it was crazy when the boys were pushing me and nobody would think to get out of the way. This time, it was less crowded and my youngest told me he figured out how to get people to move out of the way. When we would come up on someone he would turn his head and look at the Falls and people somehow seemed to step around us! Guest guest
What gets me is when people step right in front of my electric chair with out looking. Then if I do hit them they turn around and give me that dirty look as if to say where did you get your drivers license at Sears? But I do have to say most people do apologize but there is always a few people that think they are in more of a hurry than I am. There are perks to having a wheel chair 99% of the people are very helpful when they see you have a wheel chair. That is true too if you are using a cain. Then they know you have disability and that you are not just a drunk. M. L. PLS, OH Subject: Re: Vaughn's Evil Streak! Guest guest
Vaughn, Your just a true Tenn. redneck. We just LOVE bucking the system. Vaughn's Evil Streak! > Vaughn, > > I'm glad I'll never meet up with you in a dark alley...... > > > > Vaughn wrote: > Jane Anne, > > Atta girl! Now you're cookin'. When I was walking with one cane and had better balance, I just loved to make people wake up. Going through airports is where I would have the most fun. There's always someone who thinks that everyone else should defer to them, no matter what they were doing. Yuppies (male and female) were the worst. For instance: walking against the traffic flow or crossing the concourse, they would expect to be able to walk in a straight line and just assumed everyone else would get out of their way. Not this old stubborn Tennessee Hick! If they were meeting me, I would time my movement so that I could brace myself with my cane; pause for one step; drop my shoulder and " stumble " into them; mumble " Sorry! " and keep moving. > > If they were crossing in front of me and assuming I would pause until they passed; I would pause - but just as they got in front of me I would take a step and stick my cane just in front of their closest foot. If I held on tight, they will catch their toe on the tip of my cane just enough to lose their balance. If I was really lucky, they would stumble into someone else before they regained their balance. > > Crowds can be a lot of fun because people will seldom berate a person with a cane. Guest guest
Bart, et al, I'm not really bucking the system (not ALL the time anyway). I'm a firm believer in playing the game, but once I understand the rules, I'm also a firm believer that now and then a few of them need to be bent just a little. Yes, my neck is red and I make no apologies for it. In fact I enjoy it. Someone once said: New Englanders are provincial and don't know it. Mid-westeners are provincial and are ashamed of it. Southerners are provincial and, God help us, are proud of it. Vaughn
