Guest guest
Maggie I have had at least three exercise tests at various times. I didn't have an arterial line - they just kept poking me which I was still pedaling the bike. I know my heart rate and B/P went up, but I can't remember how much. It was being monitored the entire time. The first one I had, I was exhausted before having it. It was 1.5 hour drive and I was walking. They couldn't decide where I was suppose to be and kept sending me to a different place, so I was beat before starting. The next one was a few years later and I had my scooter. I have also had lactic acid draws done randomly without a tourniquet. Guest guest
Laurie, I don't recall if you've mentioned where you were eventually diagnosed. Do you know of anyone else that has normal lactic acid and pyruvate w/exercise? I'm having a lot of difficulty referring to information learned on this board - as doctors don't like to hear about information gleaned off the internet. Maybe if I could find a doctor that has seen these same results in their patients, my doctor would consider it a credible source. Thanks. Guest guest
Maggie My exercise testing was done at large teaching hospitals in Michigan and ordered by my MDA doctor. I was diagnosed by Dr. Shoffner 9 years ago following a fresh biopsy. Because (my sister) had some strange findings on her biopsy in Cleveland, mine was repeated there. The findings were slightly different, but I was much more symptomatic when I had the one in Cleveland and it showed greater disfunction. The two locations also used different tests at that time. I know they are trying to standardize them. My MDA doctor, who has many mito patients, sends his patients to Cleveland Clinic for a fresh biopsy and testing and then any DNA testing is sent from there to Dr. Shoffner's lab. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Fri, 23 Jan 2004 22:14:12 -0000 > To: > Subject: Re: lactic acid - Laurie > > Laurie, > I don't recall if you've mentioned where you were eventually > diagnosed.
