June, I never mentioned it but I do get an itch on my stomach but it doesn't

effect cramping. It seems to appear when my asthma flares up and its always

in the same spot. It drives me crazy I can't seem to stop it from itching

until I apply a cold pack on it. I mentioned it to my many doctors and they

look

at me like I'm mentally ill..............The only thing I can suggest is

perhaps going to bed late, changing his sleep pattern. My doctor has given me

valium only 4 mg and it really puts me out at night. Its something I just

started for the muscle relaxing effect. I don't take it everyday but just those

days I have trouble with spascity and like I said only at night. Sorry Charlie

is having such a hard time with his legs jumping. I recently watched a show

about the jumping leg syndrome about a lady who had that problem and there is a

drug that helps it but of course I don't remember what it was. A doctor would

of course know........hope he gets help with it soon.....Flora

Good morning June,

I have had the same problem for a long time, it felt like I needed to move my

legs all the time to get them to relax (funny huh) and I discussed it with my

Neurologist because it was keeping me up all night too. She said that it sounded

like Restless leg syndrome and put me on Neurotin.

It helps with that plus my spacticity. I am sleeping all night now with that

miracle drug. You might speak with you dear Charlie's doctor about Neurotin and

see if it helps him.

I hope this helps you, Sandy

Re: Do any of ya'll have this problem???

Hi this is June and I was wondering - do any of ya'll have this problem of

going to sleep for about 1 hr. and waking up at midnight with a " itch "

somewhere

which results in your leg one or the other jumping and you have to get up and

walk the rails or super pole or take vicodan or etc. to try to get your leg

or legs to stop jumping which usually take about 6 hrs for Charlie lately, it

has become a nightly thing now - waking at midnight and staying up almost all

night. Please let me know, he has taken everything ya'll have all mentioned,

baklofen, and etc. Thanks, June

Hi June,

Boy can i relate to jumping legs but also found the reason for them... I

was on baclofen and reacted to it when my spasticity increased and the

neuro increased it from 10 mgs 3 times a day to 20mgs 3 times a day...by

the 3rd day I was like a zombe and stiff as a board.. he discontinued

baclofen and started me on 4oomg neurontin with valium for a couple

weeks so I wouldn't have withdrawal from stopping baclofen abruptly....

anyway the neurontin works for the spasticity very well....I still get

the itch or the needle prick and then jumping legs..BUT only when I've

eaten salt like snacks in the evening..or something for dinner that has

been salted...in other words....no salt... i even found that eating

sweets later than 7 or 8 PM will cause them....I am a sports fan and it

is awful to watch games without chomping on pop corn.potato chips etc

but I just think of being up all night with happy legs and stick to no

taboo things...NO SALT

It's worth a try or think what Chas has eaten and let me know if this

remedy is worth a try and if it helps....

blessings,

Jeanette

Jeannette, thanks and yes Charlie is always eating something as he is a

sports nut too, like he loves frosted flakes late at night about midnight and

his

legs are just a jumping but he keeps trying to eat and he has been eating

cashews, what amazing things do to affect ya'll, I am just honestly gonna try to

keep a diary on Charlie, but I don't have any time left - I am like a zombie

right now with no sleep. Thanks, June

Thanks dear heart, I just told Charlie that last night, and tonight he has

already gone to sleep, but earlier at midnight as usual his legs were jumping

but now settled down and I am gonna jump in the bed too. I was telling him that

I remember Jake Hess the singer - his hands always shook so badly from

Parkinsons disease and he had to put up with that too, so.............Love june

Dear June,

Hi! I am so behind on my e-mails but maybe Charlie is having leg cramps. I

have those leg cramps, just moving the leg a certain way or scratching can

start them. They can hurt soooo bad. There is a prescription med. called

quinine or you could even try some tonic water(quinine) to see if it may

help. I hope he feels better soon!!! N.
