K is the chemical abbreviation for potassium from the table of elements

(like water is H20, the H being hydrogen and the O being oxygen) and I think

it's K instead of P because the P was already assigned and the latin word

for potassium starts with a K. Surprising I remembered that because I hated

chemistry in high school!! LOL :)
