Guest guest
The suggestion that a PLS diagnosis is generally a " holding ground " for an eventual ALS or HSP diagnosis is a doubtful one and can be misleading especially to the newer members of this group. In some cases, incorrect diagnoses have been made--both ways around, but for the majority (I think), PLS is PLS is PLS. I've had it for at least 19 years and some others on this list, for even longer than that. I'd hate for the newly diagnosed, who may already be discouraged and frightened of the future, to worry needlessly. None of us likes this disease but we come to acceptance and move on, confident in our diagnoses and reassured that we can cope. There are lots of reasons why people are misdiagnosed with PLS, not the least of which are 1)physician incompetence and 2)lack of measurable diagnostic criteria.
