Guest guest
Hi Missy, Welcome to the group. One big difference between MS & HSP is MS is demylenating the myelin has holes or tears in it and I don't believe that is the case with HSP. The holes in the myelin is why MS is so insidious and can affect arms, legs, speech, vision etc, it is like a hole in the covering of an electric cord the electricity (nerve impulses, signals) can't get through properly and that causese the problems. I thought they did tests and could see if the myelin was effected for MS, which would be one way to tell if you have MS or not. Like you said none of the diagnoses is a good one, but it might help to know. I have HSP and have had it for many years and have a family history of HSP so I was diagnosed at age 7 and am now 55 and use a wheelchair all the time, but continue to work full time. I've never had spells that incapacitated me, it has just been a downward spiral of loosing the ability to do things like walk unaided until the chair became my main source of mobility. We all suffer from fatigue and have to learn to pace ourselves, I learned a long time ago to prioritize, like I know if I work in the yard I'm going to be very tired cause I overdue and then I won't get too much else done, but I love to work in the yard, with flowers & plants so I consider it a worthwhile trade off. You have found a great supportive group, who have great big hearts and are great llisteners so WELCOME!!!!!!!! Donna Ca
