Guest guest
Sandy, yes Benefiber is great no thickness or taste. I take a tablespoon in orange juice every morning. It works for me.......Flora
Guest guest
One of the biggest benefits of Benefiber or Unifiber over Metamucil is that they don't get thick like Metamucil does. The texture and consistency remain the same and they are tasteless, as well. They may be stirred into any kind of liquid without changing the appearance or taste and can even be stirred into applesauce, pudding, mashed potatoes, cooked cereals, etc. If you need help desperately, a sure fire remedy is an old one we used in the hospital and that's a glass of half orange juice and half prune juiced--warmed. Dolores Re: Re: problems > Carolyn, Stool softeners dont work on my hubby, and as for the benifiber and metamucil stuff, he has a weak stomach, the stuff makes him gag. I use metumusil and it works great for me.As long as he drinks lots of water he is alright with constipation, but then he has troubles with not making it to the restroom. Guest guest
Hi Dolores, We havent tried the Benefiber, I thought they were all the same thing. That will be worth a try. As for the orange and prune juice (yuckie pooh), that would surely make him gag. Thanks though. Guest guest
Don't give up so easily. You only need a 4-6 oz. glass of the juice mixture. Also, you can get anything down, despite the taste, by using a straw. The liquid by-passes the taste buds on the front of your tongue, so you hardly know what you're drinking at all. Just a couple of big gulps, and it's down. Just another comment--one of the risks with using Metamucil is that it can act just the opposite way (causing severe constipation) if you don't drink adequate liquids with it. It tends to set up like cement unless you hydrate it enough. This does not happen with Unifiber or Benefiber.
