This is the second one in the last 10 months. Is this thyroid related? Maybe? Yes? No? Do we have any idea? Why, after 40 odd years of extremely healthy teeth, would I be breaking them? I did have to have a crown about 3 years ago on a cracked tooth, so this will be my third cracked or broken tooth that I know within 3 years. What the heck is going on with me???? I sure wish I knew. Guest guest Posted June 17, 2006 Report Share Posted June 17, 2006 Yes, this is quite deffinately hypo related. Lack of thyroid hormone weakens the teeth and the break into little (or big !) pieces. I don't know if this can be reversed, but a life-time of an ill-functioning thyroid has robbed me of nearly all my teeth. I wasn't dx until 55, and then under-treated for five years ! I have only just found a doctor that knows anything about thyroid ! He is a -type doctor, and has put me on Armour, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to save what's left of my teeth !
