Guest guest
I went into a " Foot Solutions " store with my mom last week so she could get custom orthotics made. Ended up leaving in a pair of shoes that are fantastic! They are MBT's, website http://www.swissmasaius.com/ They arent' cheap, but boy do they work. You have to see what they do to understand how they work. It is really hard to explain, but when I walk with these, my foot rolls from the heel to the toe, allowing me to have a more normal gait and I don't drag my toes (much). Every once in a while I'll slightly catch one of my toes, but more like I used to do 5 years ago. I bought the sandals, and will get the tennis shoe type next. Got to save my pennies for that one. My husband was so impressed by them he went down to get a pair for himself. Now his knee doesn't hurt when he walks. We ended up getting my mom a pair also. We put her orthotic (that they made for her) in a black ankle high footsie and then put it in the MBT. Worked beautifully. I'm telling you, find a foot solutions, or just find some MBT's. Mine weren't quite as expensive as the website says. But close. :-)
Guest guest
Hi : The shoes look really neat. Our sizing is different here in Canada - I wear a 5 or 5-1/2 so am not sure what size that would be equivalent to. They almost look like you would rock back and forth. Do you not find it harder to keep your balance. Like you said, I guess you have to see them to see how they really work. Thanks for shareing and I am going to save it in case I decide to order a pair. Jo. Amazing shoes...I can walk again! > I went into a " Foot Solutions " store with my mom last week so she > could get custom orthotics made. Guest guest
- I'm curious to know, are these shoes lightweight and flexible?? They look kind of chunky in the picture. I read the info. and how they are recommended for neurological problems such as hemiparesis, MS & spasticity... sounds very convincing! I would spend any amount of money if they would help me walk better! Lana > I went into a " Foot Solutions " store with my mom last week so she > could get custom orthotics made. Guest guest
The MBT's feel really strange when you first put them on. The salesman will have you stand up and do a few exercises, like rocking back and forth, then side to side. When I first did that, then walk around the store, I felt like my balance was terrible and that my legs were spasming (word???) but I sat down for a few minutes and then tried them again. The second time they worked like a charm. Don't know why, but he salesman said the muscle memory works really well in compensating. Now my balance seems to be better. I don't need my cane or walker as much. They really cushion your steps. Can't really explain it all. It just works.

Yes, the price is high, but for all the money spent on false hopes, it might be worth it to find a steady winner, especially since summer is coming and I won't be happy wearing a brace! My recommendation for a (winter) walking shoe is the Saucony Grid Instep 600, which can be seen at http://www.saucony.com/product_detail.aspx?modelID=405 & type=W or http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/605241/c/126.html. --Mata
