Saliva test results back and they are *weird*

I'm hoping somebody can please help me make sense of these because

the more I think about it, the less I can fathom it.

I took the Red Apple Clinic's thyroid & adrenal saliva test back in

February, when I had been on 25ug thyroxine for about two weeks. I

wasn't on any adrenal support at the time. Results were thus:

TSH 39 (Low 20-25, Normal 26-85, High 86-120 nIU/ml)

fT4 0.17 (0.17-0.42 ng/dl)

fT3 0.31 (Low 0.21-0.27, Normal 0.28-1.10, Optimal 0.80-1.10 pg/ml)

Cortisol:

8am 13 (13-24nM)

12pm 4 (5-10nM)

4pm 2 (3-8nM)

12am 2 (1-4nM)

DHEA 6 (3-10ng/ml)

....which put me at Stage 5 of adrenal fatigue. Which I believe.

These results were all believable and did fit with blood test results.

I've now been on 100ug thyroxine for several months and a fair bit of

adrenal support: 9 tabs of glandulars on & off, Isocort roughly two a

day, and HC 5mg twice a week. Naturally I didn't take any of this on

the day of the test, or the day before. And the results came back

like this:

TSH 456 (Low 20-25, Normal 26-85, High 86-120)

fT4 0.14 (0.17-0.42)

fT3 0.20 (Low 0.21-0.27, Normal 0.28-1.10, Optimal 0.80-1.10)

Cortisol:

8am 29 (13-24nM)

12pm 3 (5-10nM)

4pm 12 (3-8nM)

12am 2 (1-4nM)

DHEA 6 (3-10ng/ml)

....which puts me squarely in the reference range on the ASI graph.

Fooey.

Both the thyroid & cortisol readings just don't fit, unless anyone

can shed light on this.

The fT3 reading being low, (shrug) I can believe but fT4 & fT3 being

lower on 100ug than they were after two weeks on 25ug is odd. And

the TSH being more than ten times higher - can it possibly be

correct? My blood results have followed a clear trend thusly over

the past year:

(I really hope these figures are legible, I have trouble formatting

things in this editor. Refs are TSH 0.3-5.5, fT4 8-22, fT3 2.5-5.3,

Morning cortisol 220-770)

Bloods:

13th Feb TSH 1.69, fT4 10.1, fT3 3.54

5th Aprl TSH 0.21, fT4 13.5, fT3 3.93

29th May TSH 0.08, fT4 13.8, fT3 3.59

9th July TSH 0.01, fT4 17.1, fT3 4.16, cortisol 237

1st Augs TSH 0.01, fT4 19.1, fT3 4.68, cortisol 204

7th Novm TSH <0.0, fT4 17.1, fT3 4.55, cortisol 197

So as my thyroxine dose has increased, serum fT4 has gone up as has

serum fT3 (a bit) while serum TSH has plummeted & is now practically

zero. Which you would expect on thyroid replacement, wouldn't you?

How is that compatible with a very high salivary TSH reading?

Meanwhile my morning cortisol readings have been going down and are

lower than the bottom of the reference range (and that's with adrenal

support, though not taken on the days of the blood draws), which

mirrors the situation with the February saliva tests, and certainly

mirrors how I feel. So again, how can the November saliva tests

showing the 8am cortisol very high possibly be right?

Does this make sense to anyone? I'm thinking I might have got

somebody else's results. OTOH, if these ARE my results, then I need

help understanding them, because things are obviously not as I

thought.

(And if they aren't my results, how can I persuade the Red Apple

Clinic to investigate?)

Yes they make perfect sense when you realize they are looking at different

things than blood testing.
