Guest guest
Hi June I am on oxygen at night although it was ordered for 24/7. The contraption on my face made me too nervous during the day so I wouldn't use it unless I had an attack which they prescribed it for. The attack was on my diaphram which would stop working and I couldn't breethe at all... it would last several seconds while I relaxed and it started to work again.. It was very scary and why I didn't have panic attacks....God knows. The nurse I have twice a week said patients usually call 911... When it started was when I started progressing with more spasms in my legs and not able to sleep, I was on 20 mgs of baclofen a day....10 am & 10pm and the neuro upped it to 30mgs a day....10mgs 3 times a day...by the 3rd day I was like a board and could barely stand up and couldn't walk with my walker and the diaphram in my lungs was spazzing and wouldn't work for several seconds as I said...I was put on valium and taken off baclofen....I don't remember how long a period went by before they started me on neurontin but it took weeks for me to become " normal " again. It was a nightmare I don't want to go through again. The spasms are gone and I can transport from chair to w/c and to bed without the severe weakness I had thru that med change....I use oxygen at night yet because it gives me c-somthing or other the Dr said...was never tested like Charlie was so don't know my count. I'm sure this isn't the same reason for oxygen but I'm sure there is a benefit for him and keep us posted. Many blessings Jeanette

Guest guest
Did your husband have a sleep study done to see if he has sleep apnea? Maybe that's why his saturation level is dropping when he sleeps. Might be worth asking his Dr about if he's not had one done. Guest guest
Thank you Jeannette for your e-mail. I will show it to Charlie. He did not use the oxygen last night - why I don't know unless he wanted to smoke one last time during the night....ha ha cause he can't smoke during night with oxygen thank goodness. But he will try it I know sooner or later. He has been on Baclofen and he also takes valium and vicodan for his spasms and legs. He had to have 2 root canals done Thurs. so Friday he was quite miserable from having to sit so long. Thanks, June
Guest guest
It can be done. I had a aunt who would have cigerette in one hand and the oxygen mask in the other.
