Guest guest
Hi Callie My son is b/l and his shoes are set on 70 degrees on both sides. As far as I know unilateral (one foot) are set on 70 for the clubfoot and 40/45 for the normal foot. The thing is the last cast should have been set with the foot at 70 degrees so they can tolerate it in the shoe. If he wasn't set at 70 degrees in the last cast then it could hurt him to be put at 70 degrees now. Is your Doctor following the Ponsetti method? Rach, Steve & Connor -- degree? My son has BL clubfoot and I'm not sure what degree his feet need to be at on each side. Does this number change from case to case. Our orthepedist set them at 45 degrees on each side. Is this right? I asked our doctor and he just said they looked right to him. I found this to be quite strange, also. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know. I'm concerned we're at the wrong angles on his feet. Thanks, Callie
Guest guest
Callie, Rach is right. Do you have your last cast? If so, take a protractor and point the knee to 0 degrees in the middle. Then check the midline of the foot and see where it's set at. Then you can set the DBB exactly where the last cast was. If it's not quite 70 degrees you can turn it our a little bit each week till you get to 70 degrees. Guest guest
hi Callie Just wanted to write that our dr. told us 60 degrees but, we did what Ponseti writes and we talked to other doctors. and it should be 70 degrees in a BL clubfoot. When it is UL it is different for each leg. > My son has BL clubfoot and I'm not sure what degree his feet need to > be at on each side. Does this number change from case to case.
