Guest guest
I can't say for sure, but Dr. P. would probably recast until it is corrected then use the DBB. Joanne
Guest guest
Hi, Do any of you know what would Dr. Ponseti say about a 2.5-year-old whose bilateral clubfeet were corrected by serial casting and has now regressed? What would he do in the situation? The foot has been good so far, (she has had physiotherapy regurlarly, and was supposed to wear an AFO which didn't work at all) but now the parents say that clearly the foot is regressing. They aren't supposed to have a check up in the near future. I don't want to write to Dr. Ponseti about this since it's not my child I'm writing about. I must say I'm once again so frustrated and furious how things are handled here. Apparently in this case they were able to correct the foot without a surgery (which is a miracle), but then they let it relapse at the age which they should now that relapses usually occur. The mother told me that she wasn't allowed to breastfeed her daughter while casting because the cast technician was male!!! Can you believe it? Poor little one had cried hysterically during casting and long after. I'm feeling helpless all alone here in " wonderful " Finland.. Guest guest
Sanna, Here is a link to an earlier message that posted with the text of an article Dr. Ponseti wrote on relapsing, and its treatment.. it might be helpful. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nosurgery4clubfoot/message/13223 I do believe that a Ponseti method doctor would be more likely to try -- and have success with -- casting and other less invasive approaches (such as the ATTT). It's good of you to be trying to help these parents. What a shame it would be, indeed, for her to face surgery now, after having been corrected without it originally. Hopefully the doctors in Finland will come around .. Isn't there some sort of international orthopedic conference scheduled to happen in Finland sometime soon? Or has it happened already? I recall seeing a webpage about it at some point. I was hoping the Ponseti method might get some coverage there. Best wishes, and > Hi, > > Do any of you know what would Dr. Ponseti say about a 2.5-year-old > whose bilateral clubfeet were corrected by serial casting and has > now regressed?
