I was concerned about the same thing, and had my E checked. The level seemed

high, but Dr. Cohen said that it was fine for someone who was supplementing.

It does work with the Q-gel. That is why it is put with the CoQ 10.

For Carnitor, 3 tabs 3X a day is the normal dose for an adult. I take that,

along with 2400 mg Q-gel 4X a day. That is a very high dose, but it is what

I need and I did the increases in consultation with my doctors. My mother

has diahhrea and the MDA neuro who knows lots about mito had her increase

her Q-gel.

Good luck with getting the dose right. You may need to make increase more

slowly.

I hit an extra " 0 " . I take 240 mg 4X a day. I get the 60mg of Q-gel and take

4 gelcaps 4X per day. Q-gel now comes in 100 mg. gelcaps. Not everyone is

able to use the Q-get and get three times the regular CoQ10. My MDA doc

wanted me to try getting to or above 1200 mg a day. I had been taking

regular CoQ10 at the same dose without much change in how I felt. When I

switched to the same amount of Q-gel, I noticed a great deal of improvement

in dysmotility and I have been fairly stable on this dose.

The recommed amount is 10 mg per kilo of body weight, but it wasn't enough

to make any difference.

Adam,

My son and I take both, but not alot. He weighs about 100 lbs and takes three of the Carniqgel which gives him 30 mg qgel (about 90 mg regular) and 750 mg carnitor. It works for his dismotbility which is his main symptom.

We are both recommended to take 990 mg or 3 tablets carnitor or 1000 mg liquid 3 times a day. 1000 mg is 2 teaspoons of liquid.

When I first switched to the liquid I had for a while taken over the counter carnitine. I brought the bottle to my gp. She mistakinly wrote on the prescription 2 tablespoons 3 times a day. I got diahrea like after the first dose. I cut back and meanwhile the pharmacist was reading the little insert for the liquid to figure out how much a months supply would be as it comes in little bottles and my insurance pays by the month. Turns out I need to take 2 teaspoons to equal 1000 mg, not 2 tablespoons.

So, I would blame the diahrea on the carnitor.

Re: Correct doses of CoQ10 + Carnitine

Hi,I have been using the Carnitor and Q Gel for a month consistently and finding it is helping. I am trying to get the doses right and not finding it easy.My doctor suggested starting with 1 330mg tab of Carnitor 3x a day, and then every two weeks increasing it to 2 3x a day and then finally 3, 3x a day. I can't remember what she told me about the Q Gel.I have tried introducing 2 at a meal and find I was having diarrhea. Of course, not sure that is the cause, as I could find other things to suspect. Anyone have trouble increasing the dose? Also I am confused about the Q Gel. I have read that using the carnitine actually sets in motion metabolic changes, that calls for the need of antioxidants. Therefore the Q Gel is important to take with it. But If I can work up to 3 tabs of 330mg, 3x a day....that is a LOT of carnitine. I am wondering how much Q Gel to take.Anyone out there taking a lot of both? Thanks,Adam Medical advice, information, opinions, data and statements contained herein are not necessarily those of the list moderators. I asked Dr Tick that question about too much vitamin E in the Qgel last November with my son . He takes 3 capsules a day at 75 IU of vitamin E. For those who take more you may want to find out more.

His answer was not too worry about it. There are people out there who take vitamin E capsules of 400 IU and more a day.

I am not sure exactly what that meant.
