Guest guest
, I don't know of any home remedies but there are options. 1. Go to the ER now (none of my doctors tell me to do this so soon). 2. Wait until afib has been present for 18 hours then go to the ER (that's what one of my doctors says to do). 3. Wait until afib has been present for 24 hours then go to the ER (that's what another of my doctors says to do). Aspirin isn't as good an anti-coagulant as coumadin, but it does anti-coagulate. Afib can be scary in itself, and the thought of a stroke, no matter how remote the possibility, is also scary. I used to exercise with a treadmill, mow the lawn, walk fast around the house, lift weights, etc. to get out of it but that is not for everybody, although it worked 80% of the time for me, usually took about 25 minutes of exercise to do it, though. Exercise makes some people worse. The extra dose of Rythmol sounds like your best bet, especially since that is what your doctor recommended. I hope it has worked for you by now. - OU alum in MI
Guest guest
Hi , It's 2am and it has been stop and go for the past hour and a half. I finally got up and did a little cleaning, washing baby bottles and stuff. My heart rate seems to still be up but I am not feeling the pauses or skipped beats I typically get. Maybe I went back to nsr - my pulse seems normal, just fast. My doc has afib himself and he does the extra dose when his pops up. I hope it worked and I can get some sleep. Thank you so much for writing! -Michele Re: just went into afib and I'm scared , I don't know of any home remedies but there are options. 1. Guest guest
Thanks for the hugs Toni. I am a mess this morning - couldn't sleep past 5:30am. I'm up and going to work. I think I'm calling the EP today to see if I can get an appointment soon. I hope I'm done with this for a while. -Michele Re: just went into afib and I'm scared In a message dated 12/14/04 1:06:08 AM Pacific Standard Time, michele_b@... writes: > I will close for now, I know this is ranting or whining, sorry. Guest guest
, Most of my fib attacks have been in the night. For fifteen years they came only once in a while if I ate too much in the evening or had spicy foods. This year they came more often, and I am finally getting to the point that I can try to relax enough that the rate goes down, and then you can relax and try to sleep. I have my husband pray for me, and then, I try to go back to sleep. My last attack I slept through most of it and when I woke up it stopped. Rate control is important, keeping the pulse under 100. As you calm down, the heart calms down also, escpecially if you take rate control meds. It may still be fibbing, but it is not as intense, and makes it possible to sleep. We are all different, and I can only share my experiences. Hope by now it is gone, I know how you feel....We are all with you! Guest guest
Hi, Buy root ginger and keep it frozen. Don't thaw just grate what you need and replace in freezer. I drink grated ginger in tea, without sugar or milk. Or try it with yoghurt and honey.yummy.You can't have too much. Ginger, and Magnesium oxide have done the trick for me for many years. Although I do have a pacemaker fitted after my second aortic valve replacement two years ago. Good luck, And stop worrying, Barry Thomson. New Zealand. just went into afib and I'm scared It is 12:50 and I went to go to sleep at 12:30 when I felt it start. I am so scared right now. This is the second occurrence in a week. It had been 10 months between the first and second diagnosed afib. I called my cardiologist who instructed me to take a second dose of Rhythmol. The previous dose was at 7pm, it's supposed to be the long acting one. I've taken it but won't be able to sleep now, I'm too afraid. I know that afib isn't what would kill me, but the possibility of a blood clot has me completely worried. I do not take a blood thinner, just aspirin. My doc explained to me today that he would have me do Heprin shots rather than coumadin - I am phobic of shots so that will really make life rough. I wish I could control this and not be so scared. I know some of you have afib for several days, my longest was 7 1/2 hours. I wish I had something to help it magically go away. I read the posts about the ginger, but I don't have any in the house. My baby is sleeping so I can't leave to get anything. I will close for now, I know this is ranting or whining, sorry. I was hoping that if I wrote about my fear right now I could lessen it. Not real sure if it's working. Does anyone know any other home remedies that might help? Grasping at straws right now. -Michele

Guest guest
I really only notice it now if I have a cold or am off colour. What happens nowdays is, I feel the AFIB start and then in less than a minute mostly a lot less, the pacemaker therapy kicks in and I am back in NSR.It is quite pronounced. Pacemaker is a Medtronic Model AT501. I have sick sinus syndrome/Brachycardia and 1st degree heart block. The technician lifted my resting heart rate to 80 BPM. [it took some getting used to,] Evidently when I go into AFIB the pacemaker sort of heads it off at the pass. The best thing is I am still active at 63.Exercise is a breeze. I backpack in the mountains on my own for several days without a worry. I take 150mg of aspirin as well and have had two aortic valve replacements. Cheers Barry Re: just went into afib and I'm scared In a message dated 12/14/04 2:18:02 PM Eastern Standard Time, shomi@... writes: > Ginger, and Magnesium oxide have done the trick for me for many years. > Although I do have a pacemaker fitted after my second aortic valve replacement > two years ago.
