Hi ,

I am sending a messages that was on my Noecal support group list from a

Nurse-Support person for 2 surgeons offices in our area. She runs a support

group meeting for post op patients. Is this information acurate according

to your understanding? I just want to know for my own information. Thanks

Subject: Citracal

I just browsed the Citracal calcium supplement website at www.citracal.com

Very informative! Citracal is one of the calcium citrate supplement brands

I recommend for the following reasons:

* Calcium citrate doesn't require stomach acid for absorption like

calcium carbonate does (found in TUMS and Viactiv, etc.)

* After gastric bypass, you have very little acid production in your

stomach pouch

* Citracal comes in 200mg tablets, 315mg tablets with vitamin D, and

500mg Liquitabs which dissolve in water (no chewable available)

* The website claims Citracal doesn't produce gas bloating or

constipation like calcium carbonate products

* Research has shown that taking 1000-1500mg of Citracal daily will

help prevent osteoporosis (brittle bone disease)

* Reduces the risk of certain types of kidney stone formation

* Can be taken with or without food, twice a day

* Available at most major drug stores

By the way, I don't receive any commissions from Citracal!

Make sure you divide your calcium dose into 500-600mg twice a day since you

can't absorb 1000mg all at once. Also, don't take calcium at the same time

you take iron or your daily multivitamin with iron or the calcium absorption

will be impaired.

Here's to strong bones for life!

Take care,
