Guest guest
I remember my son going through bad behavior when we started the ProEFA. It was so long ago that I don’t remember details but I want to say it lasted a few weeks (???). It was pretty rough during but when we got over the hump, the progress was worth it. This is just our experience. I hope others respond to this also. Hang in there! I started my son, , on it about 4 weeks ago and his behavior has become horrible. He becomes physically agressive if he does not like something you say or do. I'm don't know if I should stop the ProEfa or continue. I have a younger son and is very rough when playing with him. I have noticed the he is trying to say more words, but he isn't handling any dissappointment well and I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone gone through anything like this? I appreciate any advise or info you could give me. Kelli
Guest guest
Hi - I had very similar experience with my older son, though it didn't start until he had been on it for quite a while - months, in fact. I finally took him off it (though it no doubt helped his speech dramatically, it wasn't worth it for the family dynamic anymore). He did NOT regress as is reported by others - no idea why - but because we didn't have the behaviour issue to deal with, he excelled rapidly in his therapy. Try backing off the ProEFA and see what happens. I knew it was the ProEFA because we tried taking him off it and putting him on it repeatedly and it was clear. Now we can give it to him again and, while it does nothing for his speech anymore, it also doesn't affect his behaviour. Just FYI - I believe it had alot to do with lack of good sleep. Try taking it yourself and see what you think. Marina > Hi everyone, > > I was just wondering if anyone experienced difficult behavior after > starting ProEfa. Guest guest
We too had some pretty out of hand behaviors when I tried upping Nick to two caps a day. I HAD to go back to one for a week and then I started upping it by drops. He is now on two fully and I'm not seeing anything other than normal 3 year old naughty behaviors. Although he did start having teeth brushing avoidance when I upped him and that is still going on. I attribute it to his cutting two of his molars though. We'll see! So in other words, the positive results for us with the ProEFA out weighed the behavior but I did back it down and then slowly increased the amounts. Guest guest
Did I comment on this already? My brain is fried. Anyway, I second Karyn's comments. Collin reacted the exact same way. After that we tried Coromega and had similar, but not quite so drastic results regarding hyperactivity. He went to sleep ok with this one, whereas with the ProEFA he couldn't go down for anything! I have to add, though, that he did become more vocal with both of these, esp. ProEFA. We still had no idea what he was saying, but would babble in 5-7 " word " sentences. The hyperactivity was just too difficult though. (and I'm willing to do just about anything to get this kid to talk! It was just totally unmanageable. He was extremely happy, but totally wild. We also decreased dosage, to no avail. At this point, we are trying what apparently used to be called Efalex. It is by Nature's Way and is called EFA blend for children. Different ratios of DHA, etc. I was on the hunt for this because the Late Talker book noted that this blend was best for kids with dyspraxia and adhd. So far, so good. Not extremely hyper, but he is distractible and has issues with impulsivity still. (he is also on Straterra) He is also a bit more vocal. We have only done it for three days and it is much more manageable than the others. He is nowhere near as hyper. When on the others it was like he wasn't even taking his straterra. Anyway, that may be an option if you had similar results with the others. I was so determined to keep trying because there seems to be so much information supporting the success stories out there. Hopefully this one will help and we will see a breakthrough someday too... In the meantime, its not making him totally bounce off the walls! I hope you find something you think is worth trying. Good Luck!! Cheryl Butterworth Cheryl@...
