Cherie,

A lot of us are behind on email so I wasn't sure if anyone responded yet.

What you want to do is have your doc do saliva testing for cortisol 4 times

during the day and for thyroid tests need to include Free T3 and Free T4 at

minimum, plus the antibody tests. Your Ferritin should be tested and you

should know your sodium and potassium levels.

Since you are new, I highly recommended thoroughly reading the website Stop

the Thyroid Madness.com as well as www.DrRind.com especially the metabolic

part because we refer to information on those sites frequently and they

Thyroid one also talks about tests to have. www.stopthethyroidmadness.com

new here

Hi all,

I'm new to this group, and like everyone else who joins I'm hoping to

gather information and find answers. IU'm 39 years old and I have had

gradually worsening symptoms for around 11 years (since the birth of

my oldest dd). My symptoms have gotten more severe since I had my

second child, but I was still able to function fairly well. I have

been diagnoised with Crohns disease since 1994, so there was a

tendency to blame everything on it. I have been asking to have my

thyroid levels checked for a few years now and they always come back

" within normal limits " . My fatigue and other symptoms were bad enough,

but since August I've been under an enormous amount of stress. I'm the

primary caregiver for my 90yo mother (my grandparents adopted and

raised me). In August she was in a car accident and has been in the

hospital and nursing home since. We are still working on bringing her

home. At any rate, my symptoms have REALLY gotten worse since then and

I started doing my own research. I am strongly suspecting that I have

problems with my adrenals along with my thyroid. I do have nodules and

cysts on my thyroid that were found October 2006. I have a huge list

of symptoms, but some of the top ones are extreme fatigue, trouble

sleeping, depression, hard time getting out of bed in the morning once

I do get to sleep. I can post the entire list if I need to. I did the

test about how my pupils constrict in the dark with a light, and they

constricted, but re-dialiated. I'm going to a new doctor on Wednesday

who will hopefully have a brain and will be able to help me pinpoint

what is wrong. I am compiling a list of tests I would like done when I

see the doctor. Does anyone have any advice on what to request other

than the cortisol salvia test? Thanks in advance!

Thanks Cheri! This is a list of what I will be asking for tomorrow. I

realize he probably won't agree to all of them, but you never know. Anyone

have any suggesstions to add or anything I don't need to get. I've very

tired of having the same stupid test run over and over. I want to find out

what exactly is wrong, so I figure test everything I can think of.

Free T3 Antibodies for Graves ??

Thanks again, Cheri! I just really hope this doctor works out. I'm so tired

of feeling rotten. If he doesn't work out, I think I'll go back to my

primary and start educating him. He really is a good doctor. He just hasn't

made it a point to learn all this stuff. Since it isn't his special focus,

he sends patients on to an endo. when stuff comes up. I just have to make

him realize that that doesn't actually work out as intended.....
