Guest guest
Hi, Sara, I agree with Vaughn. Almost everyone that speaks with Bettie Jo turns up the volume. The only exception recently was a technician who administered a CT scan to Bettie Jo. Even with a bit of machine noise in the background, she spoke only in a normal voice. It was very much appreciated. The best help that a speech therapist can give is to teach how to effectively chew and move food or liquids to the back of the mouth in preparation for swallowing, and then how to tuck the chin and double swallow. I question the effectiveness of exercising the parts fo the mouth simply because it does not take much to fatigue the muscles to the point of not being able to chew or swallow until rested. A posting last fall might be interesting: http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=10019234 & BRD=1078 & PAG=461 & de pt_id=151025 & rfi=6 This seems most interesting. Now about that CT scan, after 6 weeks, we have finally found a 5 mm X 3 mm stone between the kidney and the bladder. Sooo. Bettie Jo will under go a procedure to laser blast the stone into fine grains that will pass easily on Monday. Boy, we sure would rather be at Spring Fling.
