Guest guest
I am giving my son supplements not DRUGS. He is on Fish Oil...and Carnaware which is a formulation of L-Carsonine, Vitamin E and Zinc. None of which are pharmaceutical DRUGS which I too am totally against. My thinking is that perhaps Apraxia is caused by deficiencies and so if I can make up for those by giving him these supplements and there are no negative effects; then, I all for it. You are talking to a person who doesn't take any drugs not even aspirin! " E. Guest guest
THAT'S GREAT. I too give Fish Oils..and I too am learning NOT to take TYLENOL and such and just VITAMINS...MULTI, E, C, and ECHANECIA if getting sick. Guest guest
while I agree that supplements are important you cannot dismiss the value of certain meds for certain situations. Echinacea has been shown to have no value whatsover in the recent research in stopping or preventing colds. There is no evidence to suggest that even supplements are without problems. Anything has risks associated with it including supplements. As a mental health professional and a mother of a child with special needs I have seen numerous children and families for that matter who have been greatly helped by meds like ritalin and adderall. I think each situation needs to be looked at individually, what is good for one may not be good for others and vice versa. So while it is important to know what we are taking ourselves and giving our children, I think we do a great disservice to everyone if both medical and natural treatments are not carefully examined. Don't forget that a small boy recently died from chelation therapy which is a natural treatment and that many women are greatly helped by antidepressants for post partum and other types of depressions. , mom to Amara 7yo with apraxia, adhd, polymicrogyria and cerebral palsy
Guest guest
Thank goodness some of us are still rationale. I have a child with ADHD and Concerta and Zoloft have made a huge change in his life. People just seem to me narrow minded at times. Great response. Guest guest
Keep in mind and that's the whole point of the book NATURAL CURES the FDA and MEDS will lose money if we all stopped buying that and only used NATURAL CURES..instead of their $80 pill. Up to you guys, just a thought. Re: [ ] NO MORE MEDICATION Thank goodness some of us are still rationale. I have a child with ADHD and Concerta and Zoloft have made a huge change in his life. Guest guest
Rather than tit for tat..let's just say you treat your child with what deem appropriate and let's leave it at that...I was speaking for my CHILD not anyone else's. Guest guest
I agree and I didn't mean to come across that way. It was just mainly a thought and wanted to know what you all thought of medication and if any read that book, that's all. I wish you all the best with your child. Guest guest
ps. , I agree with your approach. It's just that some people get all defensive about comments/suggestions one might make just to put another perspective out there. Reading Natural Cures could not hurt anyone, it's just another PERSPECTIVE. I agree our society is too dependent on Big Pharma to cure everything. Guest guest
I consider using both medicine and natural methods. Sometimes we have to weigh both sides for the best results. I agree that we should try natural methods I have the book " Natural Cures " and wish I borrowed it from the library. The book doesn't provide a written cure but instead refers you to other published books or websites. The part that upset me was that I bought this book only to find out that he will give you the cures if you go to his website and subscribe for a fee. He provides a lot of information on medicine cover-ups but he tells you he isn't allowed to publish the answers to cures in his book. While I can agree with some of his information and the need to use natural cures I still will turn to some medicines with caution and read all warnings applied to them. When my youngest son was 8 months old for the first time in his life he had three of the worst seizures in eight hours, the doctor gave him Phenylbarbitol and his seizures stopped completely. He was off the medicine in one year and I am grateful to whoever discovered this drug. My older son was prescribed Strattera for his ADHD and became depressed and almost suicidal before I learned this drug was the cause of his depression. I am upset with the FDA for releasing this drug. I worked at a Health food store and witnessed a coworker in pain from a kidney stone. The doctor he saw suggested surgery but my boss gave him a natural tonic to use that had him pass it with some discomfort within days. We have to use our best judgment with the information given us and weigh the differences of what works natural or not. The best thing about childrensapraxia.net is that they share information about what works for free and we decide based on great parent feedback, Thank you for the suggestion and Thank you Myra for your supportive feedback. Guest guest
I agree with you completely. In my life I have had doctors want to do surgery when a much more conservative approach could have been taken. Each time I opted for the non surgical cure. What my household has found is a product called Reliv. This is a nutritional supplement in a synergistic blend. My 9yo daughter with apraxia has had wonderful reports from both her speech path and her special ed teacher regarding her effort and focus this school year. I have heard other parents speak about their ADHD or ADD students becoming focused while using this product. Even the teenagers and adults in my household have had wonderful health benefits. you may e-mail me privately and get more information. Another place for more information about Reliv is reliv.com. I have been aware of the company for over two years and purchasing product for about 8 months and I only have praise for the company and the product.
