Guest guest Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 Adrenal problems are still new to me as far as what to say about them... I'm really good at breaking down allergies and reactions but not so good with the other medical things. That must have been screwy. I remember my doc putting me on effexor for about a week... man that was weird... it was like going through the looking glass and listening to dark side of the moon at the same time... I just stood in the shower watching the individual droplets fall... then later that day I went to a local celtic festival where we had people who were dancing on top of large balls and juggling flaming batons... looked cool if you were just there.... but it looked really cool if you were high like me. Of course at the time, I became really proactive in my thought processes about medical marijuana because it was like... if this is the only thing that keeps me from being in pain.. sure I'll get high on prescribed effexor all the time lol. But then my moods tanked and I became really depressed and violent... damn doctors lol. At least he knows now to NEVER put me on anything again. But man was it funny finding that out. You will feel tired after having so much stress on your adrenal glands... it basically forced them to give it all they had. You will probably need a few weeks to get back to normal... make sure you take bcomplex supplements as they help aide the adrenal glands and you may want to take a wee bit of adrenal supplement to help. Don't take the as seen on tv stuff... make sure you take the natural dessicated stuff. I'm still looking for it myself... I think Topper takes it but I can't remember what it is. Good luck, Adrenal test today Hi all. Was at the docs for 4 hrs. They took an initial blood sample, then gave me Klonopin, and every 20 minutes took another blood sample, up to 4 total. My blood pressure dropped to 80/60. Started at 120/76. It has something to do about my epinephrines - to make sure they aren't elevated due to stress. That will tell doc if the growth on my adrenal is interfering with the juice the adrenal is putting out. Topper, , , - know anything about Klonopin or this test, in more detail than I wrote here ? That Klonopin was a trip, man, head a bit detached from body, vibrating room, so sleepy, confusion. Breathing slowed down. They let me go when my blood pressure started coming up. Hubby was driving me home, on a road we use a lot and I asked "how did we get here?" Woah ! Came home, slept 6 hrs. It's been a tough 6 months with lots of waiting, with my thyroid stuff, and it ain't over till we find out what's going to happen with my adrenal growth. It's hard. jane u.s. Quote
Guest guest Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 I'll plug the adrenal stuff that I used..... Took nearly three years to get my adrenals rested and back to normal function... probably won't take others as long... I'm sensitive to adjustments and was in REALLY rough shape for both thyroid and adrenals when I started. I stopped the adrenal last November and was doing just fine... then, when passed last month I started up again for a couple of weeks, just to make sure that I didn't undo my 'healing' and then went back off.... I'm doing fine.... One of the BEST things about getting the adrenals better.... is sleep... wonderful glorious sleep... and dreaming, and waking up feeling rested... and laughing... and not going into melt down with everyday happenings..... Anyway.. I found these guys 3 1/2 years ago... they sell whole desiccated thyroid (Armour is a whole desiccated thyroid) in both porcine and bovine (Armour is porcine) and whole desiccated adrenal, only bovine for that one.... The thyroid isn't as strong as prescription grade... so dont' get all excited... But for the adrenal.. I really like it.... I used it as a support supplement, taking it in the morning, first thing, to ease the morning work load on my glands, the biggest work load day to day on the glands is getting us up in the morning.... That's another reason for making sure that you have breakfast.. did you know that? If you skip breakfast it increases the work load on your adrenals.. they have to kick in to keep you going... coffee/caffeine stimulates the adrenals, further stressing them.... Oh.. oh.... getting up on the soap box... climbing back down... hehehehe Here's the link.... www.nutri-meds.com Topper ()www.thyrophoenix.com/donations.htm On Sat, 25 Feb 2006 10:29:56 -0500 " Teague" writes: < snip > You will feel tired after having so much stress on your adrenal glands... it basically forced them to give it all they had. Guest guest Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 They'd have to tie me down to do something like that.... I'm such a chicken! hehehehe Topper ()www.thyrophoenix.com/donations.htm On Sat, 25 Feb 2006 19:16:59 -0800 (PST) Tina Hummel writes: , It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be , they put electrodes on your skin first then they shoot a bit of electric thru your muscles that don't hurt but , then when they are done with that part of the test they keep the electrodes on you but then they have this big needle that goes just under yourskin and they listen to your muslce reaction to things. Even that wasn't to bad untill he put it into the fatty part of the hand right under your thumb oh whoa that hurt. Thank you I was so happy when he said it was a normal read and I did not have MD. Thanks again Tina Quote
Guest guest Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Nope that is the one medication they will not give cause I mean come on that would fix everything and I would have not need for all the rest of the junk thus they would lose to much money and so would the big Pharma. Tina Teague wrote: Thanks for the info Tina. There is a book you should read called Relief from IBS by Elaine Fantle Shimberg. It will help the heartburn and indigestion. That is a lot to go through I tell you and I'm glad you've came out swinging! I wouldn't give hope up about being fixed... *looks around* I hear it can happen... I'm still waiting on getting completely fixed but I'm excited at the prospects I think lol. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I really appreciate it. Are you on thyroid meds now? Do you self treat? I can't remember with everyone posting lol. Thanks for writing me and telling me all of these interesting things. When I have more time I'll write back. If you want you can also talk to me on yahoo as misswindjammer. Have a great day! Re: Adrenal test today Oh Topper that is only a couple of the drugs they have me taking hon. Guest guest Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 One of the main causes of thyroid disorders can be extreme ongoing stress, especially for someone who already has a genetic time bomb sitting on their genes and chromosomes. I still believe that it is the Hashi's that has caused ALL these difficulties, Hashi's starting when you began your past journey, up to now, of all these heartbreaking events. The arthritis, mental problems (yes I've had them too yrs ago), and all the other stuff that followed, including the stroke. With proper careful thyroid treatment, I feel like some of these things would improve, but yes, you do have damage that may not be able to be corrected completely at this point. Re: Adrenal test today , This is just for you since I have told my story a few times and I don't think you have heard it as yet I did it a little while back for Topper cause she wants to stare at it so she can fix me even though i am beyond repair. This all started When i decided to kick my wife beating husband out when my son was i his sr yr of HS .I might add my son was glad he hates his dad for the things he has done to both of us, He never touched my son or I would be in jail cause I would have killed the man in his sleep. That was my only good thing from this marriage. Well anyway then while I was going thru the nasty divorce my son Joined the Marine was in less than a year I think and 911 happened and was stationed 10 minutes or so fromthe Pentagon and they were there freqently. Needless to say I was terrified and did not hear from him for 3 weeks before I heard wether he was dead or alive and hile all that was happening my ex was threating to kill me said he had a shot gun had my name all over it. and I was in my home alone now.he talked me for almost a year till my son finally told him to back off or he would have to answer to him cause there is non one that is going to hurt his mom. In this period of time I lost a total of like 85 to 90 lbs in a year and a half maybe. and I wasn't even trying just lost my appetite. I kept the weight off till I found out I had uterine cancer and then started packing on the lbs. I had a laporoscopy on Dec 30,2003 then had the Hysterectomy on Feb 25,2004 then had a fistula repair in May 24 2004. Thank God for the man I met and started dating then he is a god send. he has been by my side for all of this. Then in Sept 2004 I was sitting in a club drinking a coke and felt like a sledge hammer hit me in the back of my head I got dizzy and was warm all over and it went from my head down to my feet and everything went numb. I told my hubby I needed to go home I didn't feel well so we left and he wanted to take me to the ER but of course all I wanted to do was go home to bed and that is what I did the next day still numbe from head to toe my hubby called the hospital ER and they told him to tied me up and drag me in I was having a stroke. Turned out to be a mini stroke so in the middle of all this mess I felt like I was just going insane and I was committed to a metal facitiy for a few months. I was put on Effexor XR and seroquel and then plavix cause fo the stroke and metoporol for my high BP and lipotor for my cholestrol. then cause I couldn't sleep well I got a sleeping pill. Then they found out i had Hashimoto's but that is the only thing I didn't get meds for. In the mean time they are watching my back and tell me I have severe arthritis in my back cause I can't walk more than 20 yards with out being in severe pain thus the darvocet.. I do also have a digestive problem I get heart burn or indigestion all the time I have a hital hernia for years . Guest guest Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Self Treating isn't for everyone... you have to be really honest with yourself in evaluating symptoms and keep on top of your self monitoring... if you can do that.. and the docs don't care, or you don't have insurance and can't get care.... self treating can be the difference between being one of the walking dead, that's where I was, and returning to the land of the living.... Guest guest Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I absolutely want to be one of the living... I'm ordering my pills in a few weeks. My doc just wants me to show him the supplements when I have them. Although I think the desiccated adrenal would be healthier for me than just the support. I want to be very honest with myself. I have to be . If I will stay sick, I don't want it to be because I am not helping myself get well. Ideas as to dosage as my levels on paper look very good? Should I take it when I need it? Or every few days? I know it will take a while to get acustomed to it. I know I take it away from my armour... should I take it with my b complex and vitamins? I take those around 1pm or so. My usual adrenal drop is around 3-5pm. *shrug* Ideas? lol. I'm open to them all. Guest guest Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Adrenal, in my mind, is best taken when you first wake up... to reduce the call to the adrenals during that waking 'busy' time for the adrenal glands... I've always taken the adrenal and my first thyroid dose at the same time, as soon as I wake up.. before dressing or going potty... My logic has been that if you can reduce the 'mandatory' work load on the glands in the morning, that they will have that much more time and energy to work on filling the tank... less day to day strain on them and giving them a chance to get all caught up and then get back into the easy rhythm that they are meant to have.. I know there are a lot of folks that use cortisol and/or other stuff and take it several times during the day, with good results in that it relieves some of the fatigue and helps with sleep..... I'm not saying that's a bad way to go... it was just my personal choice and train of thought that I wanted to help my glands by easing that first morning work load and letting them get rested up to handle their jobs for the rest of my life... That's kind of why I did the short runs these last two months when I was thinking I'd be stressing to much.. so that they didn't get behind and had a bit of a break. You have to figure out how it works best for you, that takes some experimentation on your part.... then do it the way that works for you.
