Guest guest Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 History: Multinodular goiter. Thyroid Ultrasound The right lobe of the thyroid is mildly enlarged, measuring 20x24x76mm. There is an echogenic nodule in the upper pole of the right lobe, measuring 4x7x8mm. This was not visible on a previous outside ultrasound of 2003. A small echogenic lower pole nodule, measuring 5mm is unchanged. A small cyst in the lower pole, measuring 6mm is also unchanged. The left lobe measures 15x19x50mm. There is a small hyperechoic nodule in the mid left lobe, measuring 5x6x12mm. this has increased slightly in size from the prior exam. There is increased Doppler flow in both lobes. Also, the overall architecture of the lobes is somewhat nonhomogeneous. Conclusion: 1. New echogenic nodule in the upper pole of the right lobe since 2003. 2. Slight increased size of the hyperrechoic nodule in the mid left lobe. 3. Mildly enlarged, nonhomogeneous thyroid, with incrased vascular flow, suggesting the possibility of subacute thyroiditis. I will have an appointment with my ENT specialist sometime soon and most likely a biopsy after that. Surgery is floating as an option. Ideas? Quote
