Guest guest
hello everyone, i am new to the list, so ill give you a quik run down about me, i am a 16 year old male, i have been diagnosed with CHRONIC LYMES DISEASE. I have been having alot of problems lately, with weight loss, extreme headaches(alomost to the point where i cant see), fatigue,(and it kinda contradicts itself but,) insomnia,(like im really tired, but CAN NOT fall asleep), today is also the first day where my joints have actually been bothering me, as in my knees and my shoulders. my back has been hurting a little but nothing real bad, My doctor has put me on doxycyclene(which i have noticed all of you have been on also),Fiorinal(for the headache,Midrin(headaches also),Syndergos(headaches again). I went for my last checkup the other day and he told me that friday(tomorrow) i am going in for another western blot test to be done to check if my titre has gone down. if it has then he said that will be my new baseline to work around. if it hasnt he said i will have to wait one more month then we will check it again if it goes up we start all over again, if it hasnt changed then the same thing as before, new baseline to work around. now what i was wondering was(knowing you all have been through alot more than i have already) what will be the next stage. i mean like now what is going to happen. if maybe any of you could maybe help me to understand this whole disease a little better. i have also been throwing up alot,(forgot that earlier..sorry) but, back to my question. can any of you help me to understand what is going to come next? where i am going to be in maybe a month or a year or for the rest of my life since it is chronic. can comeone please help me?? sincerly Birge [Lyme-aid] What? I must be having a VERY bad day. I turned on the computer to check mail and I see a message in French and some old Bill Engvald jokes. Huh? I don't know what either one has to do with Lyme but that's the way my day has been. Daughter was in an accident today ... she's fine ... but her car is pretty smushed. (Elderly lady went around a corner WAY too wide and took out the side of daughter's parked car. When the police officer asked to see her insurance verification she started complaining that it was in English and how was she supposed to read it??? She's Chinese.) Ohhhhh well. But, daughter gets a rental and gets her car fixed by the ladies ins. co. so I guess all is well. Have doc appt. tomorrow to find out what this " thing " on my face is and why my wrist hurts like crazy. Not sure if either is Lyme related but I'll find out. Y'all be well. Guest guest
I sometimes do, " Oh,yeah, is that so? " " uh-huh, " " oh, wow, what do you know? " But of course if he wants something, that doesn't work too well. I've got some PECS pictures he can choose from, in that case. Sometimes it gets really sticky. Peace, Kathy E. Guest guest
We use the " show me " too. We also use, " Okay, let go! " ,and he'll lead us to what he wants or wants to do. I've also used, the " my ears are tired/waking up/not working too well today " sort of thing too, because that seems to take the pressure off of them. It makes it seem like the problem is you, not them, and that has to help with self- esteem. Of course, these days, even with unintelligibility, my son Drew will speak rather low in volume, and competing with the TV, a computer game, and some musical toy he's playing with, I just plain can't hear him! LOL Fortunately, he's usually pretty patient. Oh, and another one. Sometimes we play a version of charades to figure out what he wants, like, " OK, what do you do with _____ (whatever sound he makes I mimic as best as I can)? " . Sometimes if he acts it out, then I know too. Hope this helps! le (mom to Drew, age 3, apraxia, DSI and hypotonia). > It suddenly dawned on me that has started using " What? " > when we speak to him because he hears it from us so much!
